Editing Songs Or Mp3 Files

How do you edit songs? For example, how do you cut certain parts out of a song?
Do you need a special program?

Use a program like Goldwave or Audacity.
I'm sure there are others too, but I can't think of any at the moment.

audacity is a great tool for editing
