I am currently back in Taiwan for the summer and I want to buy a phone to use back in Canada. But I am not sure what brand I should be looking at. Any suggestions? Right now I really really really want the SE610i but I am also considering Nokia's L'Amore series. I am more focused on the design and capability features rather than playing music on it or whatever becasuse I heard that Nokia has better transmission..and that SE breaks easily?

Can anyone give me suggestions? Not neccessarily on the two phones but other phones and what i should be looking out for when I do buy a phone?

SE 610i

well i hve used both nokia and sony ericson and to be honest it rly depends what ur lookin for

well if its to play music then i wud say Nokia - the SE is okay for music but can be bit fussy - it also lags more but the functions on SE are better than Nokia...but the SE is more complicated and the Nokia is very simple
...actually its wrong nokia is very easy to break cos ther not made as well as SE
SE are more reliable technology..cos of course its sony
but yeh the MP3 function isnt as good as Nokia

I think Sony Ericsson is better... The cameras are definitely better imo.

I love Sony Ericsson to death, so this may be a bit biased

Style: L'Amour
Functions: 610i
Camera: 610i
overall: 610i

The L'Amour (i.m.o) is just for style =]

My friend's father worked for Sony... While he was working there, they released the SE 610i and he said that the SE 610i wasn't really a good phone at all. So I'm assuming that there are better Sony models... If you're looking for a Sony phone, choose a different one.

I myself... Prefer Nokias. They're reliable with an easy to use interface and they're also built so well, you could drop it so many times and nothing happens. Nokias are built like bricks without being clumsy and awkward to use.

I love the look of the Nokia L'Amour. They're classy and awesome to look at. However if you want a really good camera with your phone as well, try the Nokia N series, they're made specially with a good camera in mind I believe [Carl Ziess optics, the same company who does Sony Cybershot lenses.]

Overall, based on what you're looking for, go for a Nokia.

well i think theyre both great

the sony ericsson have really good and unique functions but i think itll break easyliy they seem really delicate

while the nokia i think is more reliable it doesnt break easliy, my friend used her nokia phone for months and she dropped it a few times and it has scratches all over but it still works really good

It seems to me that SE are very durable... i dropped my a few times but it wasn't like a really hard fall or anything and the screen messed up might be some faultly wiring but my friend had the same probably with her phone. I'm not hatin on SE or anything I like their phones but the 610i front cover works great as a mirror but its also a fingerpoint and scratch magnet. I would go for the Nokia... I have a Nokia now..pretty durable

I personally like SE, but I've to admit Nokia L'Amore series are DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. biggrin.gif

In terms of functions & camera, I guess I'll choose the 610i.
There's also a whole load of pretty downloadable themes on the net that can be used on this phone! [:
Or you can consider walkman phones, they're pretty good too! biggrin.gif

But I think the Nokia L'Amore series is REALLY PRETTY.
I really like the design, & it looks more durable too. (:

It really depends on which brand you're most comfortable with. (:
I've used both Nokia & SE, & personally I prefer SE.
But I know some people are more comfortable using Nokia, so it's really up to you. (:

Nokia phones are better all around and there camera is good too. Sony phones I think are cheaper than Nokia and they don't have as many smart phones.

I would say Nokia. But I'm using SE right now. It depends. Style, you go for SE. Durability, Nokia, last longer. I'm not sure about the L'amore collection though, I was never a fan of that. I prefer the N series.

My SE Z520i just died on me, again, so I'm losing hope in SE phones. But really, Nokia last longer. ^^;;;

The S500 recently released from Sony Ericsson is probably THE phone for you. Has style, looks, good functions, and (from the looks) good build. The phone was made for people who care about the looks, while keeping good functions on there.

I've used both brands before and I'll have to say Sony Ericsson hands down. Nokia phones feel cheap and fragile for some reason.

I get less Sony Ericsson repairs then Nokia repairs. Reliablity wise seems to be SE. Looks, subjective, but I think SE. Usability...again, subjective, but SE wins again for me. This is based on what our store gets a new phone, most employees play with the phone to death, and time and time again, SE just stands out in usability and function.

I used to be a chainer of nokia celfones but when i tried SE...it's better overall!
The immediate thing that i noticed is how smooth/graceful/swift the scrolling is...you just can't go back to nokia. tongue.gif

My friend, a loyal nokia user...just tried the cybershot phone and just conclude that SE is better!

if you really want to get a Nokia, whatever you do, dont buy one from the L'Amour series. the functions are really bad in my opinion.

Sony Ericsson!

I got my first SE phone a couple days ago. New Nokia's are known to have poor battery life since they joined the "thin" phone market.
