If you haven't heard of them, MUSE is a three-member rock band from Britain. They've released four studio albums to date: Showbiz is more traditional, yet sharp rock; Origin of Symmetry features the boys basically playing synths and mad guitars in space; Absolution went for a variety of sounds all centering around the theme of apocalypse; and the latest, Black Holes and Revelations, outdoes itself in shooting for galactic-level songs and relying heavily on the big, arena-rock sound (some would say pompous). They also released Hullabaloo at some point as a collection of live songs and b-sides.
I was disappointed with their latest release, but I still love them to pieces for Absolution and Showbiz. Their strongest point remains their melodies and Bellamy's stunning guitar work, I feel. Lyrics increasingly leave something to be desired. Their music videos are hit-or-miss really -- "Time is Running Out" is a great video, "Starlight" is boring as heck, and "Knights of Cydonia" is just too strange...
Favorite tracks:
Showbiz: Muscle Museum, Escape, Unintended, Hate This & I'll Love You
Origin of Symmetry: Bliss, Plug in Baby, Citizen Erased, Feeling Good
Absolution: Time is Running Out, Falling Away with You, Stockholm Syndrome, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist...actually I think this whole album is really strong. Possibly their best.
Black Holes & Revelation: Supermassive Black Hole, Knights of Cydonia (until the whole "you and I must fight to survive" bit)
B-sides: Can't Take My Eyes Off of You (cover), Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want (The Smiths cover), In Your World, The Gallery, Crying Shame, Map of Your Head
Damn good band, in my opinion. Sorry for the long post. I get all excited in my pants when MUSE becomes the topic of discussion... Carry on, please?

They came to Australia earlier this year and I went to their concert with my brother, his friend & my friends. When everyone left, we were all saying how we wished we had tickets to the show for the next day (we went on the first day) because the concert was so fricken amazing. I still remember that day (: LOVED it and LOVED them. They are definitely amazing. Matthew Bellamy practically sexes the stage out.
Their MVs are worth checking out because they're so creative :3 as well. I loved all of them. A lot of people didn't seem to like "Black Holes & Revelations" albums as much but I loved it like their old ones.
My favourite songs are "Feeling Good", "Plug In Baby", "Butterflies & Hurricanes", "Hysteria", "Super Massive Blackhole", "Knights of Cydonia", "Endlessly", "Time Is Running Out" and "Falling Away With You".
sorry for the long reply, i love them, with passion

I would post the tracks that I like, but oddly enough you covered them all except for "Sunburn" off of Showbiz. Absolution will always hold a place in my heart as my favorite album to date. I wasn't really feeling Black Holes and Revelations when I first got it, and I have yet to really sit down with it and give it a good listen. The only track that really caught my attention right off the bat was "Supermassive Black Hole" and later "Starlight" since the video was on constantly and the end would get in my head and just loop.
But yay more MUSE fans!
I'm a girl.

My roommates and I got *really* into Muse last year. "Time Is Running Out" was actually the first song I heard by them. I also *love* "Soldier's Poem", "Thoughts of a Dying Atheist", "Blackout", "Hysteria", and "Apocalypse, Please", but I'm just a huge fan overall.

I don't know if I have a favorite song by them. I do love all of Origin of Symmetry though. And from Absolution, Hysteria is definitely up there.
They make me happy in the pants too =D

my favourite album of theirs is 'Absolution' - fav tracks being 'Singing for Absolution' and 'Hysteria'. At first i didn't like Black Holes, but then one of my lecturers put on 'Starlight' and now i don't think it's too bad...
from what i've heard, a lot of people either like (or love) Muse or don't even know who they are...

Oh, MUSE must be INSANE live. So so jealous. Where are you seeing them in August?
So glad to see all this MUSE-love.
Also, I was watching random MUSE vids on YouTube, and I came across this one of Bellamy playing some brilliant piano at the age of 12: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c02gBveKq70. I figure his classical training makes a difference in how he approaches his musical arrangements, which works out darn well for us.

My current favourites are Shrinking Universe and Unintended because it has such a depressing aura over it... :/ I gotta give it to the bassist, he is AWESOME.
