its not inflated because most of my accounting friends and classmates have signed so i know what their offers are like, no one i know makes less than 55k

take a look at this thread, theres a wide range of locations and their entry level offer salaries

http://199.236.122.106/forum/forum_posts.a...1&KW=salary

for some reason im under the impression that under 50k is extremely rare, but i suppose it is more common in some industry positions.

anyways, theres nothing an entry level analyst with a finance degree can do that an accounting major can't, but it doesn't work the other way. that part of the basis for my original arguement of why accounting is the foolproof way to go.

edit: ok i did more digging, and heres a guy making 44k in LA -

http://199.236.122.106/forum/forum_posts.a...4&KW=salary
except that position is not really ideal

if you do well, you can reach those numbers (and the opportunities are there if you can take advantage of it), but if we're talking about the average opportunity, i'd say most will end up in the upper 40's to lower 50's in metropolitan areas. low to mid 40's in the smaller cities.

also, in a thread where people talk about their salaries, you'd figure people with higher salaries will post up more, while those with less would rather back down.

got a question for you guys, kinda vague but bear with me

so i get a call from a friend who says he just got a job and wants me to talk to his manager for a sec........the manager tells me he works as part of Citi group.....his job is to basically recruit people for jobs within the company.....

my friend said the guy called him after another friend referred him.......and then he later called me.........long story short, he says when's officially hired, he'll make calls to get people to come in, and those people are supposed to call others etc etc........and he's supposed to be making money even if it's his friends friends referral etc..........now i thought it was supposed to be another one of those pyramid schemes......but they're not selling anything, plus supposed to be part of Citi.......

i know it's fishy and want nothing to do with it, but he wants me to show up and meet his boss so at least his boss knows he's trying..........any idea what this is all about? know the details are vague, but thanks for any help.

its probably a small subsidiary or affliate of citigroup...i think its probably just a sales position, maybe bringing in 'clients' for financial planning or trying to get them to sign up for services

For Citigroup, as far as I know, you do get a referral fee if you refer a friend to Citigroup and they land a job.

Or he could be from the HR department? Otherwise, yes, most firms have referral incentives. One can qualify as long as he/she is not directly involved with the hiring decision.

However, the "pyramid" style incentive does sound suspect, which leads me to believe he's probably working for a head hunting firm that's an "approved vendor" with Citi. I supposed they'll say anything to draw your interest, including saying they're "representing" Citi.

Given Citi's hit hard of late and laying off a massive number of ppl, I doubt they're hiring aggressively at the moment.

Head hunters are a dime a dozen. Be careful who you give your info out to.

Hey guys!

I am wondering if anyone knows of any sources where I can view resumes of people. There is a site called zillionresumes.com, and I want to know if anyone knows of any other sites that offer resumes, but for free. Any help that would direct me to the right sources or sources that would indirectly lead me to the sources would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

try www.monster.ca and then click on the career centre, and on the left hand panel there should be a resume writing service..click there and u can look at sample resumes...but if u click on the general tabs under the career centre it gives u tips on resumes etc.
never used it but i flipped thru the site this morning. not bad if u can navigate it properly.

site cant be half bad considering most canadian companies post job listings on that site.

What do you particularly want to know about writing a resume?

I'm sure there's plenty of people such as myself that can help you out.

I'm currently working at state farm as the service manager (so that's just pretty much the office manager) I'm getting paid 10/hr. I know your salary is supposed to be a personal thing, but my co-workers all told me what they're getting paid. I've been here since 2003. I started with 7.50, 4 years later I got 8.50 and when I got the job position I got offered 10/hr. I found out that when the other people got hired, my boss started them out at 10...

I remember when I asked him for a raise, he told me that the regional office would think he was playing favorites, by giving just me a raise. Regional office doesn't care how you pay your employees and how much... idk what to do.

find another place if you can. when you do, let your employer know that you'd like to move up and do better things. (of course, make sure that you're doing a good job at your workplace already). if you can't negotiate it, then bail.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to negotiate again.
