I think you should quit.

I was in a similar situation 2 years ago but minus the firing part.
I just quit bc they gave me more work than everyone else and that the work they gave me requires much more time.
My supervisor excuse for this was that "you are azn you are smarter than them!!!"
I won't mind more work if it meant getting more pays but since payment was based on seniority, i don't wanna do more work than the people that have higher wage than me in that same position. So yea they gave me work outside of the required task so i got pissed.

LOL at that time i wanted to punch my supervisor out too lmaoooo but in the end i didnt.

aint that racist... dry.gif

ima quit in a couple weeks. i need time to look for a job. but before i leave, i'll be sure to leave an impression they won't forget. excl.gif excl.gif

Lol suing is a long process. Its not just u sue today and u win tomorrow.
Plus that comment can be interpreted as a joke. Unless you have concrete evidence it wasn't, you are not gonna win it so easily.

I'm an aeronautical engineer for largest aerospace company in the world.

I am currently assigned to future combat aircraft design team. I love my job, no complaints about salary, the flex hours are great, benefits are great and love the travel to various suppliers and customers. Although we are a team and it is a very large team, comprised with variety of engineering discipline and business people, we are still pretty much on our own.

have you ever encountered a situation where you just quit your current job. got an offer for another and your holiday (pre-planned months ago) is one month into your new job...meaning you'll need to ask your boss for a few days of unpaid leave because you booked your holiday? What may be their impression on you? And Do you think your probation will be terminated/ fired because of this?

Any idea how to break the ice to your new boss about your trip/holiday?
* let's say you can't postpone the holiday because the ticket has been issued...

your boss will understand.
you did have a previous job and you did plan all this before you expected the new job.
let's just hope your boss is a good one and that he/she will excuse you because it is tough to cancel out on a holiday especially on that has been planned and long awaited!
just tell the situation and they will hopefully understand smile.gif

Of course everyone has to start somewhere. I'm an accountant but after graduating I'm not gonna fly to become a partner of a company right away (unless I open one myself but that's another story.) I have to first start being a junior accountant then climb up etc. Same for most if not all types of job.
A BS in Business Administration will at first do a variety of things. It doesn't mean this degree will limit his career. As long as a person has the ability and the potential, his boss will see it and will put him where he belongs. Just like if you have a secretary but you see this person has potential to become a good sales person, you are gonna boot them and let them try it even if all s/he holds is a high school diploma. What I want to say is eventually this person with a degree in BA can become your boss if he has the ability to be one.

Hi, I'm majoring in accounting. What is it specifically that you do, audit/tax etc? Also can you give me some advice, any advice. I'm currently a junior and I need any advice that I can get. Thanks

well for starters you can introduce yourself and then tell him/her the situation smile.gif
she might get a bad impression of you if you drag this out longer.
i told my boss i had a mini vacation planned for the week that i start and i made these plans 3 months ago which is way before they hired me and the boss was okay with it and just pushed my start date to a week later smile.gif

It's very common, actually. You probably should have mentioned it when you got the job offer and I suggest that you mention it on your first day. You'll probably have a meeting with HR (and maybe your boss) on your first day when you fill out W2s and what not. Mention it then.

I'm at my current job for about 5-6 months now. At the interview, my boss said she would give me a raise after the 3month period, of course, the norm like other places. However, the 3 month period has passed and my current wage was not changed. I asked the girls at work, and they said to remind her(the boss) because she often forgets (she's a doctor) not intentionally of course. I was wondering, how I can go about to say the "right words" on asking for my raise? I've actually never asked for a raise in my life before, so this is quite frightening ... Thanks Soompiers! biggrin.gif

i would said something along this line:

"[insert last name], i have been working here for 5 or 6 month and i feel that i deserve a raise. Additionally, i believe that i helped the company grew and that my skills met your expectation. ................[give examples].......Since i have contribute this much to the company, i deserve a raise."

if she denies, ask her why!!!

but make it look as less harsh or demanding as possible =)

I'm close to graduating and I feel that I might need to get another internship to get started on my "real world" life.
My friends have offered to help me find a job within their companies like Yahoo and Synopsys, but there are no internship positions available at the time, and even if I was to look at their list of positions available for hiring, I really have no idea what to do or what I want to do.

I STILL (sadly) have no idea what I want to do in life so I just want to get an idea of where you guys are working (company), what position, why, and how you guys got the job.

Grab that internship and most likely they'll bring you back full time if you're not incompetent or an bubble gum. If you're in your final year then I'm guessing that campus hiring has already started this week.
"But when it ends and while it ends, something comes, after so much rage, persistence, obstinacy, extravagance; something entirely unexpected and touching in its mildness and goodness. With the motif passed through many vicissitudes, which takes leave and so doing becomes itself entirely leave-taking, a parting wave and call, with this D G G occurs a slight change, it experiences a small melodic expansion. After an introductory C, it puts a C sharp before the D. . .and this added C Sharp is the most moving, consolatory, pathetically reconciling thing in the world. It is like having one's hair or cheek stroked, lovingly, understandingly, like a deep and silent farewell look. . . . " (Mann: 55).

i work for a rather small phone card company called calax distribution. har. i got this job ... well i basically got swapped over from my last job since my last employer saw me as very trustworthy. my current boss wanted someone very trustworthy since i'd have all his information for his banks and i'd be handing large amounts of money. i don't really have a position .. i just pretty much do everything that needs to be done in the office. i got this job because i need money. laugh.gif
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side
