Do art colleges really look at SAT? The schools I plan on applying to include Art Center for Design, Academy of Art University, Corcoran Art+Design, and California College of Art. Im stressing out because of SAT. The stress of college applications are getting ot me. =[ I dont think Im planning on going to a regular university. Any advice is all ways greatly appreciated.

Right now I am taking art class to tone up my skills more to get ready for college as there are many competitions in art college. I'm also interested in ACCD >:) however from what I've seen in my class, SAT did not matter that much. 3 people got in with 1500-1600 SAT score and 2.8 GPA. I also asked my teacher about SAT/GPA and he said as long as it is not too bad, it doesn't play much factor and he said that portfolio is the most of all in terms of deciding admission and scholarship =) I hope that helps and i really recommend you go take some outside of school private studio immediately. I'll tell you right now, unless you are super talented and can bring out your skill by your own, its best to have someone else help you bring out that inner talent of yours even more =)

Oh man. I wish there was classes I could take for graphic design. =[ Im thinking about interning at a graphic design studio out here, since that is my major. Thanks for the advice.

I heard that it isn't necessarily "intelligence" they're looking for, but high SAT scores are a quantitative measure. SATs and GPAs are used to show how driven a student is, and how well they can handle a heavy work load.

btw, I was going to apply to AAU but I was quickly convinced otherwise.

If your portfolio is average and isn't unique, having good SAT scores and a high GPA could make up for it.

I heard that the Academy of Art University is pretty easy to get into. Almost like a community college, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Basically they just want your money. I also heard that the lie about being an accredited school in the nation. Along with many other stories.

Personally I'm applying to CalArts, Ringling, Parsons, RISD, and perhaps Pratt.
My top choices are CalArts and Ringling though.
