Hey y'all!

I'm wondering if there are any tips for a community college student looking to transfer into a private college.

i.e.
University of Southern California
Cornell University
New York University
Yale University
Columbia University
Stanford University

Hi there taco,

From what I know, plenty of motivated and hard-working transfers are often successful in gaining admission to top private universities like the ones you've mentioned. For one thing, make sure to keep a high GPA (I'm talking a 4.0). For another, spend a LOT of time on your application...particularly the "Why our college?" essay. Community college students have some of the best reasons for transferring (desire to pursue another 2 years of education, etc.).

Here's a really helpful website throughout my college selection process. The transfer forum is filled with knowledgeable people who've gone through the transfer admissions ordeal (many from community colleges themselves)--- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=485

Good luck!
