I need some help deciding whether to buy this or not. I'm not too familiar with the new Core 2 systems so I'm afraid to buy the newers CPUs and other parts...
Is this a good deal for whatever it's selling? I have the money, and I can buy it, I'm just not sure on the new Core systems, I basically stopped looking at computers after my P4 system... I'm actually hoping someone can elaborate on this package, or maybe their own experience with this processor. I've read reviews but they don't elaborate enough.
Thanks for the help!

well, it seems ok, dunno if you need SLI? I always use newegg though, so maybe compare prices to there?

Already did, this combo is the BEST out there right now. The processor itself is already $500. The mobo is $200. It's not the price i'm worried about, it's the usefulness of it all. Who really needs a quad core? I video edit, but that's about it. Maybe now i can render my movies AND play games at the same time haha.
The SLI part just leaves room for more upgradability.
But yea, for the price, it's something you can't miss, but what's stopping me is what the hell can I use a quad core on?

actually, video editing stuff is pretty CPU intensive, I'd say it's well worth the value, and anyways, you don't know what the future will bring?

Yea, waiting for a video/movie to render on a stock P4 is a pain the A. I guess it'd be a good investment.

I multi task a lot, so I'm going to buy the Q6600 also. It's going to be $266 in late July, so waiting till then.
Usually, these quad cores are basically good for lots of multi tasking or using computer intensive softwares like media related.

If you video edit, then you'll notice the world of a difference compared to your old P4 when it comes to rendering times. I currently own a qx6700 and I've been loving it since day one. I don't do any heavy and/or professional video editiing (more of a hobby) and it simply made a world of a difference compared to my old amd dual core. Basically, any kind of application where you're working with compression algorithms simply runs so much faster. Yes, you can render your movies AND play games at the same time (preferably you have your game and video data on different physical hard drives).

The sale ended and the free mobo has been replaced with a crappier one.
