update! reusing this thread biggrin.gif

Okay, i like taiwanese dramas, korean dramas, and japanese dramas.. but lets save teh korean dramas for the love stories and such but i get bored with the likes of "Over The Rainbow". taiwanese dramas are good, but not all of them are amazing, i get bored by the likes of "Tokyo Juliet". Japanese dramas are just overall good, i've yet to come across one that is boring.

These are the Japanese dramas that i've seen: (in the order i've seen them, of course with korean and taiwanese in between)
Nobuta wo Produce (JP)
my little chef (JP)
hana yori dango (JP)
cupid no itazura (JP)
long love letter (JP)
IWGP (JP)
hana yori dango 2 (JP)
Lunch Queen (JP)
Sailor Fuku to Kikanjuu (JP)
nodame cantabile (JP)
akihabara@deep (JP)
Hanazakari no kimitachi e (JP)
liar game (JP)
tsubasa no oreta tenshitachi (JP)
tsubasa no oreta tenshitachi 2 (JP)
dragon zakura (JP)
yukan club (JP)
unfair (JP)
anego + sp (JP)
gokusen + sp (JP)
gokusen 2 (JP)
sexy voice & robo (JP)
kirakira kenshui (JP)
Hachimitsu to Koroba (JP)
Orange Days (JP)
Attention Please! + hawaii sp(JP)

Me.. i like to watch several dramas at one time(kr, jp, & tw each), so that way i don't have to constantly wait for the episodes of just 1 series to come out and keep me busy with another & sometimes storylines bored me.

Hmrm.. I'm up for any good japanese drama, i'd like to watch something with Satoshi Tsumabuki, Eita, and/or Oguri Shun. but really, anything is fine, because i'm asking for your recommendations

one litre of tears gets recommended alot, however i thought it was over hyped, the story was touching, the main cast was well chosen, but it wasn't as good as everyone had said.

liar game is pretty darn interesting and it doesn't hurt that the lead, shota is soo hot.

Gokusen is classic, i enjoyed it.

Taiyou no uta is really good, an interesting story and plus Erika from One Litre of Tears is in it smile.gif and plus Ueto Aya and Ryo are in it <3

lol and of course Attention Please, i loved it !

I like GTO and Densha Otoko. Both are very entertaining in that they're more of a variety emotions, not just funny, serious, dramatic, etc., at least in my opinion.

i haven't watched much japanese dramas. i did like attention please. entertaining drama, it was. i'm too lazy to write what it's about though. you could probably look it up. XD; anndd...proposal daisakusen seems interesting, though i've only watched snippets of it. i'm waiting for the series to be entirely finished subbing before watching. i guess if you like yamapi, you'd like kurosagi. it's yamapi and horikita maki again, our luverly akira and nobuta couple~ biggrin.gif it's not bad, but i wouldn't say it's extraordinary either.

I actually prefer the movie version over the drama one. I guess it's because I don't like how the drama sort of drags and Erika really cannot sing. In the movie, Yui's voice was great, I totally love it, and I thought her acting was great in it too. When I was watching the drama one, the guys didn't appeal much to me and I was getting bored. Since the movie is more faster pace and the songs are really enjoyable, it kept me watching until the end.
Most of the drama the topic starter stated are the ones I watched already. xD I don't watch that many dramas so yeah. But I know a few that you should definitely look forward to watching this summer. The Japanese version of Hana Kimi. The casts are great and I have a feeling that it will be just as good, maybe even better than the Taiwanese one. Here's a small list of a few that I really like and find it's worth your time watching.

01. Jigoku Shoujo [live action] ->there aren't that many episodes subbed yet but the few that are out subbed are really good. It's more of a thriller/horror one.

02. Proposal Daisakusen ->a cute comedy/romance with yamapi. what else can I say? It's totally too cute to not watch.

03. Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni ->to be honest, I don't like the main actress nor do I think she fits the role, she look quite too manly for me. but it's a sad romance deals with a married woman having an affair with a younger guy. There's only a few episodes that are subbed but the remaining episodes are still being sub. I like the twists of the drama though, and I love yamapi so that's what keep me watching. it's a old serious so yea.

04. Tiger and Dragon ->what can I say about this one. Nagase Tomoya's in it and it's super funny to the point where I almost pee in my pants laughing. It's a fun drama/comedy to watch.

05. Jyoou no Kyoushitsu ->the setting takes place mainly in an elementary school. I don't know why but I really like it. I guess you have to try it out to see for youself, I got addicted after 2 episodes.

06. Gal Circle ->comedy/life. It's a fun drama to watch, mainly only girls are in it though, but I enjoy seeing the problems these girls encounter and how they solve it with some help.

07. Teru Teru Ashita ->a must watch, I heard this drama is based on a book. There's a lot of different guest stars in it and I love the twist here and there in the drama. it's really a must watch.

08. Ikebukuro West Gate Park ->murder/mystery. It's actually really good, I got addicted after only watching the first episode. Both yamapi and Nagase are in it.

09. Suppli ->a lovely and warm to the heart romance with Kame and Misaki. This romance doesn't have like confusing twist in it so it's a soft romance with a happy ending.

10. My Boss My Hero ->I'm guessing you already heard of this, a super funny school drama with Tegoshi (from NewS) and Nagase.

11. Tsubasa no Oreta Tenshitachi 1 &2 ->really really good drama. Not really a drama but more of like a mini drama with 4 episodes each. Deals with women and their problems, how they solve it and all. I really like it so maybe you'll like it too.

12. Himitsu no Hanazono ->a family drama, really soft romance with a mix of comedy in it. Hongo Kanata's in it so I really like it. xD But other then that, I thought the drama was fun to watch.

13. LIAR GAME ->really interesting. I don't think you will ever get bored of this drama.

My small list turned into a long list. You can watch most of these dramas on aznv tv. You can also find more dramas on crunchyroll. Happy watching.

sungified nice list, i've seen IWGP and love that guy nagase in it! i think i'l check out tiger & dragon because of the nagase guy, hes not all that bad at acting =O and oh! thanks for reminding me about the japanese version of hana-kimi, that is surely one i'll definitely watch. i think i'll check out some of the dramas from ur list, seems interesting =] but that jigoku shoujo scares me, i don't know why, so i wont ever touch that drama.

Justalilodreamer i definitely wanna try gokusen and brother beat (because of nana's takumi, heh). stand up, isn't that the one about the virgins or something ? lol i definitellllllllllly want to try that out, shun & pi are in it! =] oh and i've seen nana and death note the movie, thx!

mayyeejeh don't know why but the title 'kisarazu cat's eye' doesn't catch my attention much, but then can't judge a book by its cover. i read a little of its synopsis just now, seems okay.

u guys keep on recommending liar game, i think i'll give that a try as well! and i forgot to show u guys my list of dramas that i want to watch (i'll exclude everything except for JP)

Want to watch:

1 Litre of Tears (JP)*
Kurosagi (JP)
A Million Stars Falling From The Sky (JP)
pretty guardian sailor moon (JP)
slow dance (JP)
unfair (JP)

^^ heh.. its quite small.. i wanna try kuitan because of morita go, i loved him in lunch no joou. some of the new ones with satoshi.. bleh.

Nobuta wo Produce (JP) <-- I liked this more for yamapi then Kame
my little chef (JP)
hana yori dango (JP) <-- Who can resist f4
cupid no itazura (JP)
long love letter (JP) <-- This one was different but I really like Yosuke Kubozuka - He is a great actor in this thought ful movie called "GO"

IWGP (JP) <-- I liked this one too even if it was alittle dark
hana yori dango 2 (JP) <-- by the end I was way more into Yuuki and Soujirou story
Lunch Queen (JP) <-- I can not believe my favorites are all together (Terayuki Yamada of H2, Satoshi Tsumabuki of Orange Days and Yamapi for ANYHTING wink.gif are together!!!
Sailor Fuku to Kikanjuu (JP) <-- Sorry to say I did not care for this one
nodame cantabile (JP) <-- Fun fun BTW Ueno Juri plays a small role in orange days. You might want to check out the Movie Heavenly Forest which stars Hiroshi Tamaki (chiaki) .

Hmrm.. I'm up for any good japanese drama, i'd like to watch something with ...

Satoshi Tsumabuki <- Orange Days is a MUST MUST MUST. ST also has a small role in Keizaru Cat's Eye which is very funny and quirky. Slow Dance was OK but I didn't care for Blackjack.
Eita <-- Try Tokyo Friends he plays a HOT Musician, he makes a cameo in Remote w/ Kyoko Fukida and and Koichi Domoto, I think Sukida (movie) might be too slow for the average viewer.
Oguri Shun <-- Gokusen (he also is in Summer Snow which I havent seen but which many people like). He is also in Detective Conan the movie.

---
Others recent shows you might like:
Dragon Zakura <-- Yamapi, and Masami pre ProDai
My Boss My Hero <- funny
H2 <-- I really like this one and have watched it several times
Kurosagi

Some older classics
Long Vacation

Movies: J Movies: Nana, Crying Out for Love, Rough, Moonchild
My new favorite Kmovie is called Who Are You (stars the guy from the classic -- it is kinda like you got mail!)

Hope it helps -- if you decide to watch any of these I would love to hear what you think PM me
Smi

Ack - Haven't watched a J or K drama or Movie in AGES ;0). Been spending time at the book store (remember those flappy paper things). Favs: Twilight Series (Meyer), Harry Potter, Charlie Bone, Thirteen Reasons Why (Asher), Wickedly Lovely (Marr), Blue Blood Series. Fav Authors: Garwood, Lindsey, Ward, and Kenyon.
Waiting for: Crows Zero (jmovie), Kurosagi SP,

NODAME CANTABILE
There you are, the best drama I've seen recently, bolded, italicized, and underlined. Because it's great like that.
You don't have to be into classical music to like this dorama. It's funny as hell, and very creative (how? see for yrself, I don't wanna spoil it for you lolz), plus Ueno Juri is a GREAT GREAT actress. She makes the character her own, alive, and so adorable. And I'm nowhere biased because I saw the dorama BEFORE I read the manga (yes I tend to watch live action only lolz), and, man, this is the first time a LA is even better than the manga/anime itself. Hanadan comes very close, but Nodame wins it all.
It's romantic, wacky, wonderfully scripted (well, thanks to the manga, which is among the 5 favorite shoujou series of Japanese people lolz) and directed.
I want to write, and be genuinely nice to people.

You could watch the Umizaru series starring Hideaki Ito. There are 2 movies and a drama series in between them. They both did extremely well in the box office. The second movie was either the highest grossing or second highest grossing movie of 2006. I love the series and obviously so did a lot of other people

For a Satoshi Tsumabuki drama you could watch "Slow Dance"

For a sci-fi/action/thriller/mystery, I'd suggest the series YASHA starring Hideaki Ito as bio-engineered twins. Another suggestion is Satorare starring Joe Odagiri.
