I'm a guy and I turned 22 this year and everyone is always so shocked when they find out I can cook. I was just wondering if it was so uncommon to be knowledgable in the kitchen.

Here are some of the things that I made for this one girl and her parents.

Seared Bluefin Tuna Toro

Scallops with a Rich Uni (sea urchin) cream sauce that I came up with

Red Snapper

Rack of Lamb with a Dijonnaise herbs crust

Flourless Belgian Chocolate Cake with Wildberry Mousse and fresh fruit

Thats what I usually make for people when I am cooking for friends or family. I usually eat this when I "cook" for myself lol

I am poor. Please spare a dollar if you see me :)

lol even your cereal looks good. um. i don't cook... which is different than "can't" cook. the difference? choice.

yeah i basically am in class (or cramming in some kindn of study/ last minute problem set deadling/ project meeting) from 8am-6pm and i don't cook.

but if i did cook, for sure ur skills would exceed mine. looks good. taste? TBD! wish i could try it.

Nice. You'd be surprised to find men are more knowledgeable in the kitchen nowadays. And plus we have to impress the ladies nowadays. I like the tuna, I made one just like that once.

wow, looks really appetizing. great job!

i would want to learn how to cook gourmet dishes, but cooking regular food for me is time consuming. plus, when i look at the dishes when i'm done eating gives me stress.

It's easy to cook good simple food in no time. This takes about 10 mins to cook if you already have rice available.

Wow you are really good cook. Did you train yourself or went to cooking school? I have to admit I don't see too many guys in my life who can cook. Usually, they have the girls do it and like simple stuff like eggs or whatever they can cook it themselves. Your friends, family and gf are very lucky to have such a diverse cooking chef. =)

i can't cook as pretty as yours. not only that, but we don't each much of what you just cooked there. nevertheless, i do cook the traditional food that my family eats. not the best, but good enough to feed people. smile.gif also, i don't usually plan out what i'm going to cook -- kind of just throw things together sometimes. smile.gif

You pwned me in cooking skills.

I guess, I'm an average cook. I don't really plan ahead, and I like to have the food done quickly. Just throw in some meat and vegetables, and I'm good to go. And my rice is always cooked ahead of time. Maybe if I took the time to chill and learn, I can cook a little better.

wtf, was that all for one meal? lucky girl. i've made the last dish plenty of times... cap'n crunchberries and milk. the spaghetti and the beef look great too.

occasionally i like a good shin ramyun or sapporo ichiban ramen. other than that, i hate cooking... usually my dinner is fast food combos or cereal.

very occasionally i'll cook for friends or family. in that case i'll get a recipe online or make katsudon... in kitchen, banana yoshimoto describes this great bowl of katsudon, and it sounded so good, i started making it for myself. my friend is kind and said mine is the best katsudon he's ever had. other than that, i should never cook for anyone, because i make the most disastrous mistakes... like feeding people pink chicken, not draining the fat from ground beef, or serving up raw bulgogi. once i made a cake that had frosting so hard, i couldn't cut through it at all... would've been great for breaking windows or knocking out robbers, but i threw it away.

^The important part is you try happy.gif

Ehh don't have many opportunities to cook, im spoiled and my parents feed me ohmy.gif but if I have to I can cook some stuff and I have a tendency to overcook things a bit from paranoia.

I cook for myself almost every night. I'm especially good at making fast, tasty dishes from whatever vegetables I have in my refrigerator. This skill is quite handy when I'm cooking for drunk friends who have the munchies around 3am.

But I'm clueless about cooking meat or anything involving eggs. I can bake pretty decent focaccia or sourdough, but not cake or cookies.
