You know what. because of certain problems recently, I got to know this Sun Li. And actually I really didn't find her pretty. Is her acting good? I don't know, haven't seen any of her shows before. I was actually rather lucky that she wasn't casted in a drama of late, a massive sigh of relief that she got ousted and replaced by another female star whose looks are obviously better... Okok, my point is that.. Anybody knows what her actual age is? I'm curious.

How's her acting skills? And yeah, that's the Yang Guo from Return of the Condor Heroes.

Pretty good...most mainland Chinese actresses have decent acting skills. i don't find her pretty either but she's been in a lot of stuff I think because she's quite a decent actress.

All I can say is, she was much better in her other dramas. This role was clearly not well suited for her. She was pretty good in XueSeLangMan and XingFuXiangHuaErYiYang. She's better suited for an assertive and independent character.

I think she's in her early twenties, not sure though.

She used to be a dancer for Vicki Zhao.

She is a good actress. I love them (Sun Li & Xiao Ming) in Shanghai Tan... The ending, however, is a disappointment. I think the producer is wrong, changing the plot this way ... I prefer the one from TVB's ending of Shanghai Tan better....

I think sun li's character in the beginning is good and likeable but after the halfway point and near the end...i don't really like her character anymore! And i don't know whether to like fung jing yao or not because he's a good person deep down but he agrees for the japanese to import illegal stuff to china >< so in the end..i still don't know whether the director makes him out to be good or not. I still enjoyed the drama though

I watched this when I was back in China yesterday.
Xiaoming is sooooo good looking! But he doesn't have much expressions in the show.

Sunli isn't really pretty but her acting is quite good. She was better in her other shows though. Her eye bags are really heavy! Shes 25 this year.

I'm in Shanghai right now, and I've been watching this drama cause its on so many channels
I haven't seen the original version with Chow Yun Fat, but I really liked this version
Huang Xiao Ming is so cool as Hsu Wen Qiang
I think the dude who acted as Ding Li was really good
I find Sun Li really pretty, and she's a good actress too imo
the guy who acted as Feng Jing Yao was pretty weak in the role..

the ending really disappointed me though.. and that whole part in Hong Kong..

I saw the original Shanghai Bund (with Chow Yun Fa) and think Huang Xiao Ming is very suitable for this cool and private character. I saw one other show with Sun Li, she is a good actress but I think her role in Shanghai Bund did not suite her well. Agreed with another comment that she is best in strong and independent roles. Didn't feel the chemistry between her and Huang Xiao Ming. I thought the other main female actress had more chemistry with Huang Xiao Ming and is better and more elegant looking. Anyway, Huang Xiao Ming is the best looking Chinese actor/guy ever. I watch the show mainly for him- and I'm not in my teens or twenties - I'm a Mom with kids : ).

i agree that most mainland actress are pretty good actress...except maybe vicki zhao. i mean she's not bad but she ain't great. also i think sun li doesn't have the conventional good looks but she has a unique look about her. i haven't seen this drama yet but it looks dark and looks like the ending won't be a happy one.
