IMO, she doesn't copy any more than people have accused Beyonce of stealing fashion/performance ideas. The fact is, when one artist has an idea that seems original and popular, the idea itself becomes commonplace and thus everyone uses it. The fact is, "Gotta Work" isn't any different than any other pop song that's based on the now popular formula of, "Horns + beat + simple hook." If you were to accuse Amerie of biting off Beyonce, you might as well accuse Beyonce of biting off Beyonce (come on now, "Crazy In Love" vs. "Deja Vu"). If anything, "Gotta Work" is just generic in an attempt to recreate a formula that was already popular, but plenty of other artists do it too. As for the video... well, it's following the same formula as the song. I like "Gotta Work," though, just like I like any other song that sounds like it, which is what the producers and record label want. The reason we get a bunch of songs and videos that look and sound the same is that record labels know that if people liked one thing, they'll generally like another. It's like insurance that they're going to make money. If one artist "copies" another, you can't really pin all the blame on them. And in the case of Amerie and Beyonce, they're both signed to Columbia.

Aaliyah is not a legend!!!! What did she do tto become a legend? Nothing!!! Ciara is a way better dancer than a Aaliyah could ever be. Ciara is a way better performing than Aaliyah could ever be. And another thing that makes Ciara better than Aaliyah, she is still alive!!!

If you knew anything about Aaliyah, you wouldn't be saying all these things.
She was a legend in the making, and if she were alive today, she would be a lot better than Ciara.
She was finally getting the status as a celeb that she wanted, but tragedy struck.
Maybe it's because her music is "old," and that is you don't like it and she didn't do any crazy dancing (Is dancing really that important?), but many, many, many artists know what Aaliyah has done and respect her for it. More respect for her than any other artist would give to queen Ciara.
She is a better singer (Not to mention she could ACT), and I agree with what others have said. If Aaliyah were still around, she'd be one of the top artists and people would be, "Ciara who?"

amerie isnt AS BIG as them.. and she has an EQUAL amount of talent as they do.. even more in other people opinions.. she has an unique voice... but obvioulsy if she wants FAME then she has to be like the other girls. the other celebs or she wont be able to get the respect she wants.

I usually despise comments about a certain artist copying another, but I do have to agree here that Amerie got a lot of the CONCEPT of Beyonce's video, such as the clothing and dance steps. But I still think she made it her own, she has gotten a lot better at dancing and singing. This woman is talented, enough said. I would say that Beyonce is more of an original artist, and she has became this trademark of sexy dance/club scene. But music wise, Beyonce can't be given the honor that she is original as well. What do you expect in today's music, class? Give that up, the music industry has lost that a while back. And do not bring up Aaliyah please (rest in peace), that woman did it with class. Maybe her vocal is not as far reaching, but image gives a lot of points to the artist's credit. You can sing like Beyonce, but steal other artist's song (such as des'ree kissing you and her claim to writing-Listen) degrades her image. Get my drift?
