OK here is the story
first of all i have no idea how can i reflect a video. So i want a program and i need to know how can i make my video files can get reflected. like what mirror does.

The reason why I'm doing this is because i want to learn dance steps of songs and u can not imagine what i have been through because of this.
When I'm practicing it's hard for my brain to function while my body needs to move. For ex. when the dancer raise his right hand to me it's the left hand so it cause sooooo many troubles for me. And I'm going crazy about it tears.gif I tried recording the video with my camera and looking at it with a mirror but it didn't work wacko.gif .
I hope u got my question plzzzzz help me for god sake sad.gif
thanx

I understand your problem, but for now, I don't think any common video player can horizontally flip your videos as you watch (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I do know that many video editing softwares/programs can do so as an "effect" when you're editing the clip. You may want to look into those if you don't already have one.

That's pretty easy to do. Just download VLC Player at http://www.videolan.org then go to Settings > Preferences. Make sure in the lower right corner that "Advanced options" is selected.

Go to Video > Filters then put a checkmark on Video transformation filter.

Go to the Transformation subfolder and select Flip vertically to get a mirror image of the video you're playing. Don't forget to click on the SAVE button.

To play videos normally again, simply remove the checkmark on "Video transformation filter" then SAVE.

^ Well, I stand corrected. But I think you should be using the option to "Flip Horizontally" if you're going to use it for dancing.

Flip Horizontally makes video appear upside down. The mirror-effect is Flip Vertically. You can easily verify that by doing the steps above.

Remember that "flipping horizontal lines" means it's reversing the lines that are drawn from left to right. Those horizontal lines are counted starting at the top (line 1, 2, 3...) and go to the bottom (...478, 479, 480 or whatever). In a 640x480 video, horizontal lines are the "480". Vertical lines are the "640" which are drawn top to bottom and are counted from left to right. So reversing horizontal lines will make video appear upside down (top line will be 480, 479, 478... and end at the bottom as ...3, 2, 1) instead of the desired mirror effect requested here.

I know what horizontal lines and vertical lines are.

I just tried it on VLC, so okay, I'll eat my words this time. But in English, when someone says "Flip Horizontally," it means that the image is reversed about a vertical axis. And to "Flip Vertically" is to reverse an image about a horizontal axis. (In other words, the adverb of "horizontally" refers to the verb of "flip.")

When you refer to "flipping horizontal lines," then yes, it makes sense because each line is flipped horizontally when thus stated. But that is different from saying that an entire image is "flipped horizontally." They are two different phrases.

Anyway, this comment is not against you, because VLC got it wrong on literary terms. Their "Flip Vertically" means to "flip vertical lines horizontally" and their "Flip Horizontally" means to "flip horizontal lines vertically." It's counterintuitive, that's why I assumed the opposite.

I absolutely agree, they're terms that go against common sense. I got fooled by VLC myself. wacko.gif

I had a nice, detailed post with a visual aide and all that... then about half an hour after I posted it, I realised I screwed it up bigtime and decided to erase it. laugh.gif ph34r.gif
