By writing Turion I am assuming you are buying a notebook. Well before the Core 2 Duos came out, the Turions actually to achieve better battery life when idle as opposed to Core CPUs which managed to get better battery life when full load. However, now that the Core 2 Duos are out there is no question you would to get those over any AMD Solution when your buying a notebook because not only are the faster but they also have longer battery life.

Dual core... do more. Like let's say you are downloading a video.. usually if you are running on a single core, it will slow everything else you are doing down. But if you have Dual Core, it won't and everything will still be working perfectly. AMD also has dual core and it has different processer speed as well. I think it ranges from 1.66 to 2.00. AMD X2 is the dualcore one.. Intel is more simple has it is Intel Dual Core and such.

before the core duo/core 2 duos were out...AMD was better for gaming and intel was better for multitasking.
but nowadays, i havent really kept up with cpus, so dont know if thats true.
Supposedly theres a AMD chip coming out soon that will better compete with the C2D
