Hi everyone...
I'm getting planning to write a resignation letter to quit my job and I want to submit it this week.... but I have question about the dating of the letter.
Since my company's policy is to submit a resignation letter at least 2 weeks (14 days) before the quitting date... I want to submit my letter this week (on Saturday, July 7th). Does that mean that the date in which the letter comes into effect is on the 15th day from the day the letter is dated (in which it will be Sat. July 21st... from Sat. July 7th)? or the 15th day after the letter is dated... in which you don't count the day you submit the letter (which it will be Sun. July 22)?
Honestly, I want to submit it on the 7th and want my last day to be on the 21st (the letter comes into effective on July 22)... but will it be weird??
I'm sorry if I am not stating my question correctly.

Thanks!

it depends... i quit my job 3 weeks ago on june 11th, and wrote 'effective june 22nd' because that completed my 2 week cycle.

personally, i dont think it matters. if they ask you whether you will work on the 'effective' date, then clear it up with them.

Maybe you can specify when you want to work last so that they'll know... But do it ahead of time, like when you turn in the letter, or maybe even in the letter itself.

our company policy is 2 weeks as well, but when people are pissed they just give a week (1 person did 3 days). the company can't do anything about it. if they force you to work 2 weeks, you just end up doing nothing anyway. if they fire you for not working, well you wanted to quit anyway.

you would put 'effective July 21st' since that would be 2 weeks from the 7th.
