Is it harder than the SAT, easier, or the same? For those who have taken it before, what's the top advice you would give for someone taking it soon? For example, what did you struggle on the most/what did you find simplest/etc? Thanks in advance. sweatingbullets.gif

Some tips:
- get used to the format of the test
- bring a calculator [ i didn't do this & did horrible ]
- get enough sleep!
- prepare for it [ i didn't do this either :x ]

I did the best on the English part because English is my strength XD
Good luck!

People get scared of the ACT but it's not hard at all. It's just high school stuff that we have already learned.
I say it's a lot easier than SAT (Though I never take SAT before) but it's about 3 and an half hour long to 4? XD
First time for you?

I thought it was easier than the SATs. Alot of my firends freaked out when they saw the Science section of it but don't. It looks really complicated but don't sweat it they ask you about the really basic stuff so you can just ignore all the complications biggrin.gif . The Math section was my worst section but it always is sweatingbullets.gif , just needed to brush up on some of my math skills.

Gahh I'm an oddball.
I did horribly on the English.
My math was the highest (even on the SAT).

I think the ACT is easier (just because I scored way higher on the ACT)...
But other people I know scored way higher on the ACT than the SAT too.

The science portion... was like.. crazy.gif
I didn't know what I was doing (partially because I never studied)....
.___. I'm lazyy lol. But yeah, it looks complicated..
But it's not.
:]

ACT doesn't dock off points for wrong answers.
but it has an extra section (science) and is basically testing how fast you can answer the questions.

i did best in english then math. science was stupid. sleep.gif

yea, the ACT doesnt require as much logical thinking as the SAT does so many people find it easire than the SAT. but since most colleges accept both, it doesnt hurt to take both of them.

thanks you guys. : D

so, it sounds like the social studies section (is there even this section? ROFL) is nothing to worry about, huh? since none of y'all mentioned it. i'll probably have to brush up on my math + science then.

science has nothing to do with science. really. go find an ACT book and look at it. its just reading comprehension/understanding graphs in a REALLY REALLY short amount of time.

I've taken both (practice ones of course)

I thought the ACT English and Reading were easier than the SAT Writing and Critical Reading (barely)
Scores were like
33 For ACT Reading, 27 for ACT English. Compared to 680 Critical Reading on SAT, and 610 on Writing (w/o essay)

And I thought the math was easier on the SAT
Math was 30 on ACT and 720 on the SAT.

Although the ACT is more curriculum based so that's probably why my scores are a little out of whack.

Oh and I sucked at the science... got a 25..... So yeah that part killed me....

I hated the act.
it had the weirdest LA section.
the questions were at the left and right side.
O__O I didn't like it at all.

I had a bad experienced with it.
my stupid teacher that day gave me the wrong form
I was supposed to get the one with writing.

anyway, if you've taken the SAT already, the ACT is different.
I thought that I failed the science section, but I didn't.
its common sense.

Well, the ACT practice test was definitely as close as I've gotten. The English is mainly reading and understanding and knowing where this comma goes or how this sentence should go or be written. Math is... well, math. HAHA. Sciene if graph and charts and confusing stupid stuff that's really easy when you actually sit down, clear your mind and think about it. Pfft, stupid ACT. HAHA.

I SO didn't know that.
I'm taking the ACT the next time the test date comes around but I was wondering.. How's the writing like?
Are the prompts similar to the SAT prompts?

I've only taken SATs but I hear the ACTs are easier. I don't know, I've never taken ACT before. But I've got only one advice (since the other ones are pretty obvious):

Understand the rules before taking the test. Find a copy of a practice ACT and read all the rules. That way, when you actually take the test, you don't have to read the directions and you can go straight to the questions. You save time that way and could score better.
