Can you be more genre specific?
Indie is any band/artist that isn't on a major label, so you can be talking about anything from rap, alternative, country, folk, etc. :]

Hmm.

I'll give you several artists with different sounds and tracks particularly indicative of their style. These are all pretty well known artists though, so this may be nothing new.

* Neutral Milk Hotel (Lo-fi) - "In an Aeroplane Over the Sea"

* Okkervil River (Folksy rock? Pretty crappy vocals, I must warn.) - "A Stone"

* The Stills (I don't even know if they're indie. I'm just crazy about them right now.) - "Changes Are No Good"

* The Decemberists (No longer "indie" but whatever. Storytellers.) - "On the Bus Mall"

* Broken Social Scene (Hmm, like Arcade Fire but more cracked out and less structured.) - "Lovers' Spit"

* The Twilight Singers / The Afghan Whigs (Probably not indie, but SO GOOD. Perfect rock.) - "Dead to Rights," "66"

* The Appleseed Cast (A bit prog-rockish, a bit emo probably.) - "How Life Can Turn"

If you need any help locating these files, I can help.

i don't think 'amber pacific' is an indie band but i think they've got quite good punk rock songs. something like simple plan.
'boys like girls' is another band that i think is pretty good too. also punk rock/ rock.

there is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

Indie is my favorite "style" of music besides electronica.

Kaiser Chiefs [Ruby is one of my favorite songs]
Wilco - I'm the Man Who Loves You
My American Heart - Tired and Uninspired
Cary Brothers - Ride
The Shins - Caring is Creepy & New Slang
Rilo Kiley - Moneymaker
Tilly and the Wall - Sing Songs Along [favorite band]
Jenny Lewis - Rise Up With Fists
Stars of Track and Field - Movies of Antartica
Hot Hot Heat - You Owe Me An IOU
Jenny Owens Young - Hot In Here
The Velvet Underground - Rock N Roll/Rock and Roll
Bright Eyes - Bowl of Oranges
Muse - Starlight [okay, not indie but its an amazinng song. i love it, never get tired of it]

Basically, a lot of the songs on the Garden State soundtrack will be perfect too.
