I'll give you several artists with different sounds and tracks particularly indicative of their style. These are all pretty well known artists though, so this may be nothing new.
* Neutral Milk Hotel (Lo-fi) - "In an Aeroplane Over the Sea"
* Okkervil River (Folksy rock? Pretty crappy vocals, I must warn.) - "A Stone"
* The Stills (I don't even know if they're indie. I'm just crazy about them right now.) - "Changes Are No Good"
* The Decemberists (No longer "indie" but whatever. Storytellers.) - "On the Bus Mall"
* Broken Social Scene (Hmm, like Arcade Fire but more cracked out and less structured.) - "Lovers' Spit"
* The Twilight Singers / The Afghan Whigs (Probably not indie, but SO GOOD. Perfect rock.) - "Dead to Rights," "66"
* The Appleseed Cast (A bit prog-rockish, a bit emo probably.) - "How Life Can Turn"
If you need any help locating these files, I can help.
