Like the title says. Currently, I have a list of 7 schools I going to apply to. But 7 schools seems like a short list. What's the ideal amount I should go for?

There's no set number of colleges you should apply to. It all depends on the person... I know people who have applied to only 1, and another who applied to 60. While I was doing my apps, the average number that people applied to was 5-10. I applied to 8:

2 safeties
5 hopefuls
1 totally out of reach but just because it was my dream school.

from what i've heard of, the average person applies to 4-7 schools.

usually 1 'dream' school, 1-2 'reach' (but has a chance at getting in), 1-2 'around the right level' schools, and 1-2 safety schools.

I'm applying to 10, most of them are UCs though, so it's just one app

Yep. And the crazy thing is, he got rejected from only 3. Harvard, Princeton, everything accepted him...

If you apply to someplace like University of Michigan as your safety school you'll find out if you get in pretty quickly because they have rolling admissions (they tell you whether you're in or not when they receive your application, no waiting time).

4 SUNY's
6 CUNY's
2 Private Schools

but i think i want to apply to a few more SUNY's cuz my 4 choices for SUNY's have such high requirements and i don't think i can get in

I'm only applying to two.

University of Houston Honors College is my safety school, and Rice University is my hopeful. My parents aren't letting me out of town, so my choices are pretty limited. But i know for sure U of H will accept me because of the top ten percent thing in Texas.

Most people do 8-10 and I have a list of about..13, currently XD.

I haven't applied to any yet (sophmore) but you should have a list of safety schools, schools you either have a good chance of getting in or working at, and your dream/reach schools.
