What the heck are u talking about lol.. Its a fact that chinese brand cars have crap quality, and thats all there is to it. We call other companies American, Japanese, and German, etc and are they offended? No. Your comments lack thought. And trucks arent the safest things around. If you wana be safe, get a german 'tank' (aka car).

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

I am chinese (100%) too. Its a fact, the cars that were tested were chinese brand and they scored very poorly on the german standard crash test, and i am not insisting that every chinese made product is inferior in quality, i'm just comparing their cars to other cars of other countries. This is a important issue, because sometime this year or early next year, we (in the US) are getting these cars over here. I'm sure that their construction and design of these cars have to meet minimum federal safety standards, what I fear most, is that its only going to be the minimal standard.

100% chinese right here. How is it offending when we're pointing out that Chinese cars (at this moment) are not safe. It's not a generalization when it's the truth.

get a brain if you want to post.

anyway, chinese automakers need to start researching and developing in a grandeur scale. honestly, most of these chinese automakers probably bought a vehicle from a different manufacturer and replicated it exactly without researching the tensile material and what not. i mean come on... they copied the iPhone, what makes you think it will not copy a mitsubishi montero or honda pilot?

Here is another one, this one honestly, is just too small and poorly designed to survive a accident. The steering wheel stuck the dummy and deformed (as in bent up from hitting the dummy!)! Crazy...
http://www.chinacarforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=139

Its the Chery QQ, which is actually a almost exact copy of the Chevy Spark...

I've been to their chinese website and found the specs:

The base model (AT/MT) sports a 3 cylinder 0.8L 12V engine, that puts out 50HP (@ 6000 RPM) and 51lb/ft Torque, and has a maxmium speed of equal or less than 80mph. Rides on 13 inch wheels...

The 'sport' version sports (MT) another 3 cylinder 1.1L 12V engine which puts out a whopping 67 HP (@ 6000 RPM) and 66lb/ft Torque and still has a maxmium speed of equal or less than 80mph. Still rides on 13 inch wheels.

data source: www.chery.cn

Its been a long long time have I've seen a car with those kind of specs here in America. Reminds of certain versions of the Geo Metro, Subaru Justy, Ford Festiva, etc.

Actually i've always wanted to buy as a beater a Ford Festiva (the boxy ones, not the rounds ones), only because its smaller in length than the current Mini Cooper, therefore parking in my neighborhood (which is hell in San Francisco) becomes extremely easy as I can grab certain spots that no normal car can fit into. The only reason why I refrained from buying it ($500) was because of safety... i'd be dead for sure in that car.

We just need to give them some time, or maybe a lot of time. Korean cars didn't start off so well, but just look at Hyundai and how far they have come. They make reliable cars with hard to beat prices. It seems KIA is also doing well in terms of safety. The Sedona scored pretty high in the crash tests from what I remember. All I am saying is that it's not too late for China to get into the game and make a name for themself.

that's because hyundai acquired kia... so management, built quality, research and development, are all done by hyundai or a subsidiary of hyundai.

O_O kia and hyundai are the same company and hyundai still sucks o_O

they just slap the warranty to make ppl buy it, even then many people still have problems with it o_o
and it bugs me how they compare themselves to lexus ph34r.gif

o_o but anyways.... i'm not sayign we shouldn't give them time but mellow.gif we've given china all this time and all they have accomplished is just copying styles of other current car brands and then fail safety tests

Hyundai isn't a bad brand ... There Sonata's aren't that bad ....Some of their other models might need a little upgrade, but Hyundai is becoming a pretty trustworthy brand ...

This Chinese car has a long way ... a long long long way before it'll even reach two stars ...

Hmm ... 50 HP .... That must be fun ...
