Duke - Reach/ Far reach
UNC - Chapel Hill - Slight Reach/reach if you apply early
Vanderbilt - Slight reach/reach if you apply early
Wake Forest - Slight Reach
Davidson - Slight Reach
Cornell - Reach
Johns Hopkins (maybe....) - Reach/ Far Reach

I think if you can improve your SAT scores (1400/2050), your chances will increase by a lot. Your GPA is a bit weak, though. But I think your rank makes up for that.. For you EC, try putting more time into things at your school. A lot your school organization part is pretty much a few clubs and mentoring. A bunch of your EC are repeated too.. soo. It's good that you have some volunteering stuff, though. If you decide not to improve your EC at all, I think you'll have a decent chance with SAT scores of 1400/2150.
But yea, with what you have now, I'm pretty sure it's like a 25% chance for Vandy (I know many people going there).

Yes, I know my GPA isn't very strong sad.gif The thing is, my school has a lot of restrictions on our class selection during Freshman and Sophomore year. Also, all of our AP classes are difficult so we can't load up with APs and still survive. Yeah, I'm a terrible SAT taker, as you can see. I hope I'll be able to bring my score up to 2100+ by October. Hummm... I thought UNC-CH would be easier if you apply early. Most of my friends who applied EA got accepted yet a lot who applied RD got rejected. I don't know...this is a weird year. Anyways, thank you for your advice!

I wouldn't blame too much on your school's restrictions just because many colleges don't look at weighted GPA (I'm assuming that's weighted). ED does make it easier for UNC, but based on my friends' stats, it's the test scores that hurts you the most. If you bring it up, I'm pretty sure you'll get in, though. UNC is just really competitive OOS.

Yeah, I think I'll take a SAT prep class in the fall. My SAT score is the weakest of all things that I've listed. Actually, I live instate and UNC accepts 50% of applicants from my school. So I'll have to try to be in that half that gets in. Thank you very much for everything!

^weighted gpa is when you get extra points for taking harder classes and getting A's in them (like APs, G/t...honors gets .5)

i see that a lot of people have posted stats, but not replies.
i will try to post some replies a little later when i have more time!!! biggrin.gif

I'm procrastinating away my AP study time! Tossing my stats in, because I can at least justify this being education/college related. xD

GPA: 4.38 - I'm not sure if that's weighted or unweighted, and it's from Freshman and Sophomore year alone. :/
Class rank: 2/130-ish
SAT I: CR 800 / M 700 / W 790 --> 2290 (Only took it once though. Considering a retake..)
SAT II: .. Don't have any yet. This Saturday! *fingers crossed*

Sophomore year:
AP European History - 5
Honors English II
Honors Math Analysis
Honors US History I
Honors French III
Honors Chemistry
Latin III (Independent study)

Junior year:
AP English Language/Comp
AP World History
AP US History
AP Biology
AP Calculus AB
Honors Physics
Honors French IV

Proposed Senior year schedule:
AP English Literature
AP Statistics
AP US Gov/Politics
AP Chemistry
AP French
MCP Business Law
AP Latin (?! .. This is still undecided.)

Activites and Extracurricular
:
Editor of School Newspaper
Varsity Debate team
Colorguard captain ; Rifle team
Academic Decathlon
National French Honor Society - treasurer (3 years)
French Club - treasurer
National Latin Honor Society (3 years)
Piano (7 years)
National Honor Society (About to be inducted)

Volunteering:
Senator Gerald Cardinale's office (.. More hours than I could count)
Summer lab assistant/technician (150+ hours)

Awards and whatnot:
National Merit Commendation (So far, anyway. Waiting on notice for semi/finalist)
Principal's Highest Honor Roll
National Latin Exam Gold Medalist (3 times - Latin II, II, and III)
Various debate awards, I am WAY too lazy to try and think of them all right now.
Various Academic Decathlon medals, ditto above.

Etc:
Harvard Secondary School Summer program? If that counts for anything, that is.

Interested in:
University of Chicago (I'd say this is my top choice. I'll be applying early action, and if I'm accepted - well, that's it. xD)
Yale University (I know it's a bit of a stretch, but.. Eh, why not?)
Dartmouth University
Brown University
Amherst University
Vassar College
Wellesley College
Wesleyan University
Barnard College

Thanks a lot for anyone's potential feedback. <3

Because schools weight them differently. My schools gives 1 extra point to AP classes, but I've heard some schools give 2.

With your stats, I really don't think Yale is a bit of a stretch.
Your stats are just...amazing........ =_=
p.s. your GPA is weighted.

^Even though you GPA and Rank are strong, your ECs are pretty weak. Most of them were just one year activities, showing less commitment. Right now, you have absolutely no chance in Stanford. For your other schools, I think you ranked them correctly. You'll probably get into your safeties, but all the others reach (far-reach for UCB and Stanford).

Acidity, everything looks pretty good, except for your ECs. If every thing you put down were four-year commitments, I'd say the ECs are good, though. I'd say you're probably in at most of the Liberal Arts schools you mentioned. However, the first four schools, it's pretty tough to say. Obviously, the biggest reach school for you is Yale. I'm gonna have to say that you'll get in at Chicago. I'm guessing, though. If I were you, I'd take the SAT again. Just try to break 2300.

I just have a question related to Volunteer Hours.

Does Leadership (school council) count for volunteer hours?

I mean when you're spending about 20 hours trying to make a school pep rally work would it count?

I've been in for a year, will continue in senior year (which is where leadership seniors have to do the most work) and will probably knock in about 200 hours of leadership work.
