What book had the most impact on your life? Why?

The one that I can think of now>>>> For me, I think it would have to be The Great Gatsby, because it has alot of themes that you can learn from.. especially the american dream..like you have to work hard to achieve your goals...and do not be greedy and ignorant to those that have less money than you do.

A Separate Peace.

Reading it broke my heart twelve times over, I can't even describe. I've never cried so hard for two fictional characters.
It really went over some powerful themes involving friendship, betrayal, and loyalty... It really makes you stop and think about what you're doing to other people, who is your real friend, and who's vicious acts you are blind to.

I just felt so strongly for the book at the characters involved. It really struck a note with me. <3

every book I read leaves something in me that I can't forget. (as dramatic as that sounds)

eg. Tolkien's Silmarillion. I love the LOTR series but Silmarillion made feel as if I'm reading true history of a different world. It was written as if it was a history book but in a very creative manner. Made me cry at many points. but, its great impact on me would be I dream to be a fantasy writer someday. I wish to be able to publish a book that can somehow equal Silmarillion's level (though highly unlikely).

another one would be Ann Macdonald's Fall On Your Knees. I've never despised a book so much that after reading it in one day, I threw the book on the floor. It wasn't such a bad story; in fact it was written so beautifully that the painful words actually wounded me. I was greatly affected by the fate of the characters that I threw the book in frustration... then I bawled my eyes out. it was so tragic.

One of my favorites!

That, and Franny and Zooey.

Tuesdays with Morrie By Mitch Albom.

it makes you realize that you have to stop and breathe and look around you before you get lost in life (ie, work)
the sad part is that it was a real story from professor and a student. VERY touching and its a real easy read.
recommend it to everyone.

and Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
awesome sad and moving book

Weird, I was just talking to a friend about this literally 5 minutes ago! Hahaha
I'd have to say 'The Alchemist' by Paolo Coelho...It's really amazing!
It had large impact on me because I went through a big change in my life and wondered whether it was worth it or not.
I love this book :]

A lot of books that I've read so far, always give me some sort of impact to it smile.gif

The Great Gatsby is a good book; one of my favorites to read in high school because yeah. The American Dream.

A lot of books -- I can't choose XD

heehee... seriously? the road less traveled by scott peck. you'll find it in the self-help section at the bookstore... yes, i know >_< but seriously, what am i supposed to say? i love fiction, it takes me to another world, often it moves me... but at the end of the day it hasn't really taught me much. but this book provided me with a lot of revelations, and i took to applying some of the lessons i learned from this book to the way i do things and think, until they became habit. so this is the book that's had the most impact on me, i think.

Has anyone read The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand? lol it was a required book for school, and it really made me think broader about things. Some people hated the book, some people loved it.. but either way it impacted me a lot.

i just love this so much!
it's really nice to read something that is narrated by the main character starting on the day he was born and how he grew up and faced some struggles in life,, tongue.gif

The Color of Water by James McBride. *I think that is his last name*

I found that one of the main theme was that everyone is just the same, despite that we are always catagorize into groups "because god is the color of water"
