-How much studying did you do?
-How long did you take to study?
-What would you advise someone who's having a rough time studying for DMV?

Any advice in general would be highly appreciated.

Let's see ...

1. I took Driver's Ed for about 2-3 months .... 9-10 months before taking the test??? haha xD ... And I studied the night before

2. Just opened the book, read it through once or twice.

3. Just don't get too nervous. It's not hard; most of the questions are pretty much common sense.

Remember the road signs. Lane laws. And read the Driver's book a few times.

//EDIT - Oh ... I just noticed it was the permit test ... haha ... I was talking about the written for the Driver's License. xD

Either way, it's the same ... Just common driving knowledge ...

i think i studied for a few minutes. i just looked over the things i wasnt sure of and thats it.
imo, theres no need for heavy studying for your permit test, most of its basically common sense.
my permit test had a section for signs, and if we were to get a certain amount of sign questions wrong, wed automatically fail.
for the entire test, i think it was 7 or more mistakes you fail.

so yeah, just remember your signs! and look over whatever youre unsure of! :]

and then i borrowed a buncha tests from my friends and hoped for the same version
and passed! haha
even the old tests are useful cause they have some of the same questions

My friend sent me a website that had 4 different versions of the test. I took them all 5 times each and memorized the answers. I only got one wrong on the actual permit test.

Didn't study after finishing driver's ed. Took it the same day as I finished driver's ed while it was all in my head
Didn't really pay attention in the class. I mean read through the manual one day... Just know the signs... That's like 1/2 the test. And in most states you need 80 percent to pass. So yeah... And a bunch of stuff is common sense.

If you miss your exit on a freeway, what do you do?

Stuff like that... Don't worry. And yeah good luck ^.^

Here in California, the DMV website contains practice questions, which ironically (about 70% or so) end up on the test in the exact form. So if that possible practice those questions beforehand. Don't forget to read the handbook though.

I'm guessing that this is equivalent to a written test for class 7L in BC. Well I spent a good portion each day reading it for about a week, then I crammed the day before the exam and I passed. It was fairly easy, a lot of common sense and just some rules and signs/laws that you have to remember. =)

My parents paid for a week of driver's ed for me (I did only 4 days). After that, my mom pretty much gave me 5 old tests. I ended up just studying that. All my friends practically did the same thing: study old tests.

I took the test abouttwo years after behinds the wheel so...I don't think that contributed much my 'studying'
I just looked over the signs before the test and kind of guessed most question and passed with a question to spare tongue.gif

i skimmed the book cuz there was a whole lot of info. what i did was study from my friends' and family member's tests over and over again. i didn't get the same version, but all the questions were recognizable and i scored a 100% just by studying off other people's tests...lol. but the test is mostly common sense. the answers should pop out anyways.

good luck!

I didn't read the entire handbook before i took it the first time, but i missed the test by 1 freaking question. If you have more than 6 wrong, you fail. I had 7 wrong. Before i took it the second time, i studied for like almost a week and then i studied the night before. I was kinda hoping for the same version but got a different one. But i passed with no wrong answer cause i kept changing my answers after thinking for a long time. But yea, like other said, some of the questions are pretty much common sense. Just think of how your friends or parents drive and see what they do & dont do. That's what i did. And i also skimmed a bit over my uncle's test, that's kinda how i got the first question right.

The first time I took it, I failed it. In Cali, if you miss 8+, you fail.. I missed 10. sweatingbullets.gif

The first time I took it, I studied about 5 different taken permit tests from my friends and I didn't read from the Driver's Handbook.. My test was really hard compared to the ones I was studying off of and some of my friends even got the same questions wrong as I did..

The second time, I studied just from the manual and my old permit test.. Since I lost all the ones my friends had lent me.. ahah x_x I studied 3 days before the test..

So you should just study from the Driver's Handbook a couple of times and study from any available permit tests, either from online or one of your friends/family members.

Be sure to know the signs and while taking the test, read the questions and answers carefully. They tend to have two close answers but there's only one true answer so just trust your first choice, it's usually right.

Take your time when taking the test.. Double check your answers. & Good luck biggrin.gif

I didn't refer to the handbook...at all. All I did was look over old permit tests and did practice tests and stuff. It really helped me cause I didn't get any wrong questions wrong on the real thing. sweatingbullets.gif
