He was out having dinner by himself and he told you he'll call you back when he's finished eating.
9:00pm... he didn't call.
9:30pm... he didn't call.
10:00pm... he didn't call.
Now, you got a bit irritated because he didn't call you.
So you called him a couple of times, yet he didn't pick up.
You tried calling again at 10:45pm and he didn't call.
So you thought to yourself " okay... I guess he's not coming over? "
At 11:00pm your boyfriend called.
He said sorry that he fell asleep and you can hear him driving in his car.
He told you he'll come right now to your house, and will arrive in 30 minutes.
The next day, you found out that he didn't fell ' asleep '
He went to [ enter a place here ] to hang out with his guy friends.
Basically, he lied to you.
Would you be angry? Would you forgive him? How are you going to deal with this situation?

As a guy, and married a long time, my wife would have been mad. So she makes me stay home and I have approved friends we both hang with. It is a lot easier that way.

hanging out with his friends isn't something to hide about, so he must've had a reason to hide it.
do you often get angry or show signs of jealousy when he goes to hang out with his friends?
if yes, then that's probably why he lied to you about it. he wanted to avoid you getting angry, jealous, etc.
if no, then i have no idea why he would want to lie about such a casual thing. i'd be suspicious.

Well I guess his friends asked him to hang out and he couldn't refuse...Maybe he's afraid of looking too "in love with you" in front of his friend, that's a kind of man's pride I don't understand sometimes =)
And he thought that you wouldn't be mad at him for a little lie...
I don't think you should be upset about that, but you should definitely talk about that with him, or you won't be able to trust him again if you keep that untold.
If my bf had done that, of course I would have got angry in the first place -because I hate waiting-, but... He has his own reasons, and I would understand that =)
