Apparently I'm getting braces with metal parts that are white or see through, I forgot. -__-
I guess that makes it better, but ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ I don't want braces!
I have pretty straight teeth, but I sorta wanted braces (four months ago) so my DENTIST parents are getting me braces.
I've already had headgear for my slight overbite for about 2-3 months now. AHHHH.
Does it hurt A LOT? For how long? Does food get stuck REALLY easily? My parents won't tell me because I'll complain even more.
Share braces stories. And...hugs will be nice.

I'm 13.
Oh okay LOL
paperbunny-
Okay, finally, something positive. Yeah, my friend recently took off her braces and man, she looks so different.
I'll buy a handheld mirror, I guess, and make the best of it ;___;
Is it hard to take it out, though?

when i first got braces, it hurt like crazy for three days &painkillers didn`t help much ><
after that, you get really used to it. but idk why i`m saying this because you probably already got them by now --;;;

i have braces, but i'm prolly get them off soon^^
i was your age when i got braces and i had them for two years.
it doesnt hurt when you get them on, but after an hour or so,
you'll start to feel the pain kicks in. BUT THAT'S NORMAL.
its just that your teeth are starting to shift. which is a good thing^^
if your teeth start to hurt or bother you, just take painkillers,
drink cold water, or cold milk. it'll help reduce the pain.
if you have an over bite (where the top row of your teeth are protruding outwards)
you'll have to wear rubberbands (same goes with under bite)
if you're ever given these, MAKE SURE YOU WEAR THEM!! if you want your braces off
i learned the hard way, and didnt really use them much and that added like three
months more of wearing them, and trust me, they're annoying.
haha i hope i didnt scare you. oh, and if you get an expander...
get ready for some pain when they take it off.

I recommend taking Tylenol right when you get your braces. They will starting hurting soon because your teeth will be experiencing tightness and pressure. You will have a hard time eating. The pain lasted for about 3-5 days for me. I could not chew, I had to use my tongue to smush the food. In the long run you will have nice straight teeth with a beautiful smile!

I'm going into my 2nd year of college and I JUST got braces this summer. I played flute pretty seriously since elementary school so I didn't want them, but my teeth are so crooked I finally decided to get them. And because I go to college on the other side of the country I go to the dentist every single week to get them tightened so I can hurry up the process.
Honestly though- it doesn't hurt that much. It's a little saddening because I can't...chew as well, so a lot of foods are difficult for me to eat, but that's probably because my braces are constantly being tightened, but the pain was really only bad in the very very beginning when I got them placed on. When I get them tightened they only hurt for a couple hours before the pain subsides.

Okay, Tylenol. I'm guessing that it will become my best friend for a while.

And are painkillers like Tyrenol?

but after awhile the pain would be gone...
it would be back if you get your braces tighten

I dont think I've lost weight at all [got my braces like 3-4 months ago]..
I actually think I've been eating more because before get them tightened I always eat as much as I can.
You'll still be able to eat some hard stuffs. I think I've been gaining weight from eating alot of ice cream =[!
My teeth are yellow... I hope I'll be able to whiten them when I take my braces off U___U

Yes, I am talking about the rubber thingies that go around the brackets!
I've never heard of ceramic braces before.... are they the ones you can take out anytime?
My experience with braces was that it was painful for the first week after tightening, but you get used to them... until the dentist tightens your braces again! Oh, also be prepared for a lot of cold sores inside your mouth. I actually got used to the pain but I have a very high pain threshold...

But I got my braces tightened recently, and there's this wire left at the VERY back and it keeps poking me! >.< It already left an automatic hole in my mouth from the constant poking. I tried using the wax but I could put it in. It was too far back so it was hard for me to get into that small place where the wire is.
Alright, well, anyway! If you want my opinion on how it was, don't be too scared. ^^ It doesn't even hurt while they're putting it on.
