Press the brake pedal before shifting.......... Not really sure what you're asking though. More specifics. I'm assuming it's an auto transmission and you're having trouble shifting from like P to D?

I don't get what you mean...

A "Shift lock" feature on automatic transmissions is typically used for emergency situations, to get the car out of Park. Such as the battery dies, and you need to push the car out... well you can press the shift lock button or insert a key into the shift lock hole and pull the lever out of park so you can move the car, same goes with towing. It should be discussed in your car manual.

If you can describe your problem in a more detailed fashion we might be able to help...

So you put it into park, and when you came back to start it back up, it was stuck in park?
If so, use the shiftlock override.... it should be described in your manual. Its usually a button or a keyhole (put ur key in and pull to neutral to start the car) that is right next to the shift lever.
