Is it an informative speech, or an argumentative speech? unsure.gif

Cause and effect of global warming...
The increased number of pedophiles on myspace and the dangers of online communities...

Check out all the newspaper headlines too for ideas.

Write and illuminating essay discussing how Jesus Christ was really the product of human/alien hybridization and how what would have been written off as a simple alien abduction experience today was used during biblical times as a cornerstone tale upon which a major religion was founded.

You can begin by recounting how the pivotal "appearance" of the angel Gabriel before the Virgin Mary in which she would be told that she would conceive the baby Jesus was really the first alien abduction occurrence. The vision of this angel Gabriel was really an alien and that he was the one that performed the artificial insemination of Mary with alien DNA. Hence, this would explain the conception of a baby while still being a virgin.

Then later, you can recount other biblical accounts of the many miraculous things that Jesus did and explain how it was his "alien powers" and inherently advanced scientific knowledge of the physical world and the human anatomy that allowed him to perform these so-called "miracles". The loaves of bread and fishes falling from the sky could have come courtesy of alien spacecraft in the sky - which were monitoring their hybridization experiment from afar as Jesus grew from boy to man. Lazarus' apparent comatose state might have appeared as if he was dead to the masses - yet Jesus knew of this and by using advanced medical techniques, it was only a matter of time before he could "raise him back from the dead". Changing water into wine could be just a simple parlor trick to an alien intelligence that's in the know. And if E.T. can heal wounds as he did in the movies, so too could JC the extraterrestrial heal the sick. And just as E.T. came back to life as he did at the end of that Spielberg tale, so too can Jesus' resurrection of the dead be explained: his human body may have died - but his alien physiology kicked in 3 days later and he was up and running again.

And then finally, you can end your discussion with how the assumption of Mary and Jesus "into the heavens" was just the reabduction of the human test subject and the transport of the hybrid product back on board the mother ship to be taken back home to a much friendlier planet. After having witnessed so much maltreatment of these two by a primitive human society despite their well-intentioned actions over the course of 33 years, the alien powers that be probably figured that enough was enough and took them away to someplace better. But in leaving, they left behind a most outlandish legacy of perceived magic and mysticism that it totally and drastically changed the course of human history.

------

But of course, if your audience doesn't buy into these essay arguments, you can just toss your papers up into the air after your speech, shrug your shoulders, and then sheepishly exclaim "But what do I know? I was smoking pot when I wrote all this gibberish. Personally speaking, I really do believe that there's an invisible man in the sky that controls the universe." Flip on the boombox that you brought with you and proceed to exit the stage with the X Files theme playing.

And then hope for the best.

that's a good one.

in fact when I was in highschool (gosh, that felt like so long ago tears.gif ), our English teacher made us write our speech [informative] and we should choose our own topic [something captivating though]. one guy started his speech by saying he arrived at "dead end" so his topic was how to think of a good topic for a speech... sweatingbullets.gif

yeah! confusing as that sounds he got an A. mellow.gif
