Anyway.. I have never heard of the 67xx geforce cards you're mentioning, but I'm assuming that they're from the Geforce 6 lines. I'd recommend against those graphics cards since you're getting a new computer and those graphics cards are only DX9. Getting something from the geforce 8 line would be your best bet unless you're considering ati radeon cards as well.
As for other specs, it really depends on the price range you're looking at for your computer. As for a processor, I'd advise you to pick up a intel core 2 quad q6600 processor. But if money isn't an object to you, the intel core 2 extreme qx6850 quad core would be hands down the best choice though it costs an upwards of $1000 (CDN dollars) for the processor alone. However if money is an issue, I'd encourage you to get either an Athlon X2 or Pentium Core Duo. And definitely definitely definitely.. stay away from the semprons and celerons! As for the hard drive, I guess it really depends on how much space you need, but I generally would recommend anything above 160gb because the price point is quite decent at the larger sizes. And don't cheap out on the power supply, that's one of the most important pieces of your computer. I'd get a minimum 400W power supply with at least +18A on the 12V rails, and make sure it's from a reliable company. As for ram, sound card, optical drives, I'm pretty sure you could think those up yourself.
Tell me if you need any more help..

Do not get anything but a e6600 right now.
You can overclock the e6600 to match the e6800 for a much lower price.
And no videocard in the $200 price range will ever be bottlenecked by the e6600 processor.

the e6600 is getting phased out. the new series are the 6550, 6750, and 6850. you can buy the e6750 for 225usd (on newegg) and IF you wanted to you could overclock the 6750 as well. i mean.. 2.66 is fast enough?

Ex:
E6420 @333Mhz FSB (OC) 8x = 2.66Ghz
E6550 @333Mhz FSB (Stock) 7x = 2.33Ghz
So for less price, and a little work you can get more out of the older series of C2's.

most retailers are still trying to sell off the older stuff at the same price...also i dont really oc, although from what ive read the e6750 can be overclocked up to almost 1 full ghz on stock heatsink and normal voltage
so ok back to topic ive decided to go with either the 7900gs oc at $100 or the 7950 gt at $150
if you guys can help me decide if the $50 is worth getting the higher card that would be helpful cuz its hard to find comparisons between both since the 7950gt being shown is the 512 and im trying to get the 256 and compare with the 7900gs 256
thanks again

i just think the 8800gts just costs too much for my needs and if i do need it within the next couple years im sure the price would have gone down greatly and yea, this fits my needs very well
thanks very much everyone for your input
