my sister. she is so addicted to games... that when I talked to her, she cant respond back (or maybe she just doesnt want to), her anger rises everytime my mom told her to shut down her games and go to sleep. she rushes to do hw so she could play games.
I'm thinking she's even losing her common sense. She could sit at a corner all day. I will go to work in the morning, come back after 6 hrs., and will see her at the same spot playing games. And my mom willl bring food to her... and she will eat... and will not take her eyes off the screen.
does anyone else beside me see this as a serious problem???

my brother has that problem too... like he'd play CS the whole day and laugh and scream to himself. But yeah, try to get the computer away from your sibling so she won't get more adicted..

I just heard from my cousin video game is really an addiction (by articles and definition).
And funny this article talks about it:
http://parents.berkeley.edu/advice/teens/gameaddiction.html
I find it weird that video games are labeled as a serious addiction, but it's believable (thanks MMORPGs). I don't think of video games as an addiction because most people I know gain self control or were properly taught that. Even as a kid being 6 years old playing with the NES, you eventually start to balance out your gaming because of friends, work, school, etc.
In some cases, I find it as a phase where it will gradually fall down to playing moderately instead of extremely. Sadly in other cases, gaming has become a serious health hazard (well online gaming mostly an some extreme cases of consoles) where it kills them or someone else.
Oh anyways my cousins are addicted like crazy, I think they'll eventually balance it out by age of 10.. or earlier..

My little brother is like that.
He used to wake up and play this online game for the whole day.
He played it so much, it's not even funny.

I used to be like that, but in phases; I'd do that for a few days, then be normal for a few days... like in cycles.
I say, when she's in the middle of something important, flip the switch on the fuse box to turn off the power in that part of the house, and claim a fuse blew. It's a rude awakening with funny results. 8D; And after she freaks, take the opportunity to drill into her head how immature and pathetic she is.

ionno, marathon sessions of gaming can and does get boring and that's when u strike! after like 2 or 3 days of uninterrupted play, a person will get bored and stand up and wander aimlessly around the house without a specific need. the addiction has lost it's interest but the loss of interest will evaporate and the full on gaming session will continue, so in that time of mindless wandering find something to do together and try to make a habit out of it. if that didnt' make any sense to you, just discipline your sister. she yells at your mom when she tells her to sleep? dang, that's not what a child should be doing. then attack her with your words "friendless.... loser.... no-brained-blob-of-cells-that-only-plays-games-all-day..." dunno, couple summers ago i was that guy, but i had no school at the time so i just played games but eventually i got bored since i did the same thing over and over again.

I admit I was one of them. The only thing that worked for me to stop my addiction was to stay away from any MMORPG.
