OK... i have a 1995 Honda Prelude Si.. the paint is in pretty bad shape... its chippin off like crazy... and on top of that my car has a few rust spots.. ive had the car for a few years now and it runs really well... but my paint just looks like utter complete crap... i just need my car to last me another good 2 years til i graduate and get myself a new car...

i was thinking about taking my car to Maaco just to get a cheap fix just so it will look decent... good idea?... or bad?.. ive heard that maaco is cheap and inexpensive but sometimes the paint doesnt turn out to what you would expect... one of my friend's buddies had an integra he wanted red.. and the paint ended up coming out to be a bright orange.. dun ask me what happened.. but he has an orange integra now lol..

o yeah.. anyone know if maaco does body work and fix rust spots too??

Bad idea. Maaco does horrible work. Yeah, it's cheap but you get what you paid for.

i have seen a lot of cars over at honda-tech that had maaco paint jobs. most of them came out looking good. if you need a cheap fix and is not looking for a drop dead show quality paint job, why not go maaco?

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

My car was in an accident and I paid $600 for paint and repairs, it looks brand new and I haven't had problems with the paint. I had my car done at Maaco.

Maaco is perfectly fine. You will definitely achieve what you are looking for. I sure as hell wouldn't spend $3000 for a new paint job on my 95 Honda Civic, especially if I sell it couple years down the road.

it depends on the shop itself. Some shops do quality work, whereas some do horrible work. Before actually committing to having them paint your car, look at their work first.

Luckily I have a cousin who owns a spray gun and has experience with auto body work to do all my work for me for free w00t.gif

Maaco paint service is going to be different depending on where you are. Maybe you can bring your own paint instead of whatever the hell they use?

Just depends on your goal...

If its for a car that you cherish and adore to every detail, what the heck are you thinking even about Maaco?

If its for a car that you really don't care about, and just want some paint on it so it doesn't rust through or something, then its probably acceptable...

you know a lot of people say it's crap without having seen their work. i haven't done any maaco on my car but have seen it on another car. honestly, at least on his car, it didn't look bad. but then again i'm no paint expert.
i'd like to thank graceyoon and melkimx for warning me to 40%. thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Only do it if you're willing to put all that tape & stuff over your car yourself like over your windows & mirrors..
Cause they sure as hell aren't gonna do it for you fury.gif

well the prep work is the primary things you should worry about. Prep work> actually painting.
I hear their prep work sucks, depending on where you go.

Cuz what you pay for is a paint job that'll just last you a few months til the paint starts to chip and crack, in the end wasting the money you saved for that crappy job. Whereas you can pay maybe double that amount for at least a decent job. of course, the car owner has to take care of the paint too, meaning wax and wash the car to prevent any tree sap, bird crap, or anything from corroding the paint.

And yes doing your own prep work helps a lot, if you know what your doing and do it right. I had my car painted at a crappy paint shop but I did all the prep work myself. It took a LONG time but was worth it. The paint looked pretty good. I just didnt take care of the paint itself so after a lil over a year, its starting to chip here and there. Plus, I tailgate on the freeway a bit here and there..so the front is pretty torn up with chips.
