hmm...I was just wondering...when do u think is the best time to audition for singing?
like agewise
I'm almost 15...
also, what do u do about college? I've already been preparing and hoping to get into a good one...
do u just go to be trained and have tutoring or something...then go back to school later?
should I wait to audition after college? and just get trained at a dance studio/lessons

Age Of Auditioning?

hmm..well..to audition..the younger the better!
because they are going to train you for years on everything..
don't wait after college, you'll be too old by the time you finished training!
and if you got in SM or something else, they probably would want you to come to Korea for training..and let you study in an international school
but if you really wanted to study in the states, they will let you i guess but you'll have to travel to korea during your breaks and vacations for training..
it would be much harder for you to do that and tired as well...
and it might be a disadvantage for your job and school..
some artists even dropped out of school because they couldn't handle the school and the job at the same time..
so i guess you have to give a real thought about this...
hope this helps! =)

I don't agree with JuliaYYK's comment on age of audition.
There is no limit as to how old you can be to audition.
Age does not matter.
Younger has nothing to do with being better.
Parents have more protection on you than when you would be during college and above.
I know many people who are in college or out of college who are auditioning and are getting into companies.
Just do your best, no matter what age you are!

well yeah i agree with you..lol~
i definitely agree that age does not matter..
what i should say is that some companies prefer younger age..and younger doesnt mean that they are better...what i mean is that they could be trained easily..so it would be better if younger..?um..really depends on which company you are striving for..
that's what i think haha..er..sorry..i dun really know how to express myself..lol
anyway!!! if i have my own company..age definitely is not a matter to me..lol
yup yup..do your best!!!
i am old and i am striving..hahaha!!!

thoes that say... "age is just a number" ...well yes it is... but to companies (espcially to korean ones) it seems like a HUGE deal. they want to train you and make you the best... younger = more time to train so when you come out you won't be too old.
but if you're going for a company that's not going to train you... or if you keep on practicing on your own and train on your own til you audition so that if you get in, you can sing in concert right away or be in the studio... then age is just a number sort of.
don't let age in your way though. they do perfer younger people but that doesn't mean that you don't stand a chance.

I really don't think age should be a concern because having an education I think is very important because just in case you find out singing is not the career for you, having a college degree to fall back on will really help in finding a job. Also if you audition after college, you'll only be 21-22 which honestly is very young. And even if they felt like training you another 3 years or so and you debut at 24-25, that's also still very young. You could have a good 10-15 years of a career as a singer ahead of you.

I think that age doesn't matter.
Personally, I think someone should not audition too young
because they won't get to enjoy their childhood & teenage years.
But I think it really depends on how you look at it.

agreed.
but at the end age DOES matter. it all depends on what type of career you´re pursuing. if you want to be a "Smish" artist - that is a teenbopper (and that is what most people in here want), you need to be young.
if you are really talented and want to be a "serious" singer with an more mature image age doesn´t matter. but take in mind that if you are older (20+) they expect you to be better too. it´s ok for a 14 year old to be unexperienced, but a 23 year old should have defined her/his voice and abilities. not that you need to be perfect, but i hope you guys get what i´m meaning ^^
the tendencies are that the korean music market is moving away from sugar pop, which means that the artists are getting older . so it´s not a bad decision to wait until after college. this will minimalize the risks of you starving to death if your career as a singer fails hehehe
