In the US the first model years for the Evo and STI were 2003 and 2004, respectively. And a 2001 Evo would be an Evo 7.

doesnt have much handling
but has power
the EVO on the otherhand is opposite
has handling but not much power
so if its power your looking for then go with the STI
if handling is more important then go with the EVO
enough said
and if your going for just looks i think the STI looks better
except for its front head light
they make the car look like a damn bug...
but if you really are in a dilema just research it on google

I don't know where u get your information from but you're pretty much wrong about everything except that first line u wrote. Doesn't have much handling? wtf? Compared to what? The Evo? They are similar in the handling department with the edge going to the Evo. Power wise they are pretty much equal stock for stock with maybe a small edge to the newer Evo's. If you start modding, then the power goes to the Evo easily, dollar for dollar.
Just because on paper the Sti has a claimed 300 hp (it's actually overstated to get it to that magic 300 mark but now has 293 hp) doesn't make it faster than the Evo with 287 hp.

Agreed.
Ah man, if only an Evo were that cheap haha. And both cars are crazy autos. Both have loads of potential, and both handle very well. It used to be that the Evo had the edge over the STI, but recently its been shifting. Really though, there isnt any significant difference between the two cars. Just depends what badge you like and what looks u prefer. Personally I think the latest STIs are fugly, so EVO all the way, though I like STI's boxter engines :/
