Anyone recommend a good scuff remover?

I was backing my car out of my parking spot and I was looking at the back and didn't notice the left corner of my front was scraping the concrete wall and now there's an extremely large white scuff. ph34r.gif

is it deep? The best way for us to know is by letting us see how bad it is.

To me it doesn't look like that will buff out. The scratch is too deep.

If you want to try...get some rubbing compound. Just go to like a Pepboys or Autozone. Might make it look a little better.

If that doesn't work...heck...just buy a spray can of dark green paint. smile.gif

Oh lovely. Thanks though. I've been told to get Scratch-X from one of my car enthusiast friends. Will that make the situation any better? smile.gif

I've used Scratch X and it is more for fine light scratches. Not sure if they have a Scuff X tongue.gif

Probably best to use rubbing compound. There are some that say Heavy Duty Rubbing Compound. Don't use it anywhere else on the car though...it will scratch it and even remove paint. That's what you need though for the scuffed up area.

Hope this helps.

So I can use that heavy duty stuff on the area that my car's been scuffed but not anywhere else, right?

I'd have to second the spray paint. Thats from experience...

Don't waste your money on Scratch-X - polishes and rubbing compounds are for removing imperfections in paint.

In your case, you have very little, if any, left on that scuff, so a polish or compound won't help you. You'll have to get it spot painted at a body shop. You _COULD_ try to fix it yourself, if you're handy with a spray can or know someone with an air compressor/spray gun.

The only problem is - you have metallic flake paint, so blending new paint with the surrounding paint is pretty difficult. A skilled painter or shop should be able to spot paint this for you - but will still require re-clearcoating the entire area.

If you still wanna do it yourself, check out paintscratch.com for paint matched to your car. I've had pretty good luck with them. Keep in mind, you need both the base coat and clear coat, and make sure you have flex added to the mix for plastic parts.

Yes. That's correct. By doing this you can possibly remove most of the white scuff off the bumper.

As far as the part where the black is showing...perhaps it won't be that noticeable as your car is dark green. But as others are already suggesting...might be easier to paint.

Not worth it to take it to skilled painter or shop IMO.

As you stated before...you just want it to be less noticeable. That's why I suggested to buy a can of spray paint. Hopefully they have dark green.

Paintscratch.com does carry spray paint, tailored to your car. I've ordered paint from them before and had a good experience.

BTW: The company's plant is located in San Leandro, CA and thats is where they ship their orders, so ordering the slow paced mail can actually be pretty quick, I ordered the paint with snail mail, and I got it literally next day.

I had the same size mark on my rear bumper, and the cost to fix it was 200. Fix it up if it bothers you!

I'm just going to leave it. It's not worth fixing. Maybe try to get rid of the white part a little.
