when i turned 21, it dropped alot, and i could afford full coverage, with $250 deductible
when I turned 25, the rate $20 cheaper/ mo.
but then, I got into an accident... and they raised $30/ mo T___T
so yeah, get at least 3.0 GPA, they will give you discounts, I think I got $10/mo discount long time ago from having good grades.
and just don't get into accidents, and get speeding tickets. Will cost you a fortune.

An 18-year-old will never have rates as low as 600-700$ a year. Insurance starts lowering after 2-3 years with good behavior, and that's about all you can do. And by the way, $1300 is pretty cheap compared to mine (Los Angeles + Public college parking lot = A lot of coverage). We all have to go through it. It'll be okay!

Just get a part time job and you'll make that in no time.

$1300 for one year is not bad at all... in fact that is relatively cheap for one way insurance (liability only). Imagine if you had a newer car that you had to get comprehensive and collision coverage on, that would nearly double or even more than that.
What I would say is to get a job and save up monthly like around $120ish, to cover that. Working a part time job, even for one or two days a week should cover that (depending on wages). If you really can't afford that, then you need to ask yourself this question: Can I really afford to drive (factor in insurance, gasoline, maintanance)?

Mine is $100 a month. And Im on my mother's insurance. And she just got a ticket on my brand new car.
Side note: Another way to lower your payment (you probably cant do it since your older) would be to get an ID card when your younger because it makes it seem like you've had your license for a while...go figure.

Yep, I don't see why you are complaining when it's a $1300 a YEAR. Be lucky it's not like a couple hundred a month, considering you are a young and new driver.

This was with AAA California Insurance. Obviously I was working hard to pay for that, and cover my other car related expenses...
