There's a lot of jobs on campus that doesn't require work study... like working at the student store, jamba juice, etc. I remembered last year they held a job fair where they had open interviews with students.. and A LOT of students got hired into random jobs. Like students just lined up to get interview.

I don't think it's impossible, it's just that I bet they would prefer if you did have work study since it means less money coming out of their department.

Man, I am jealous of all you new freshman. I wish I could be a freshman again ._.

I've heard of campus ministries (like KCM and KCCC) but does anyone know of any churches in the UCLA area or that many UCLA students go to?

There's the University Catholic Center - it's right down gayley past strathmore.

The other one that's pretty big is Grace on Campus - a Christian group. =) Not sure on the details though. :]

jiggywidit, i heard that at most campus ministries there are upperclassmen who are more than willing to drive you to the churches they attend.
i attended a couple kcm socials and a lot of the leaders/upperclassmen were stressing how their goal is to place you in a church that you like and feel comfortable in, so they're always willing to give you info and rides and stuff; you should try it out cos it's actually really helpful, i'm thinking it will make your search a lot easier haha. oh and plus they mentioned that they don't all go to the same church so you can try out a variety of them and pick one you like.

Bruin love doesn't need to be stated, it's all around!

As for the 2.6 GPA...honestly with the increasing rate of applicants who are MORE than qualified to be here...you're in a tough position. That isn't to say you don't have a chance, you're just going to have to rely on all your other strengths, extracurricular activities, and personal statement. If you honestly believe you deserve to be there then I'd say give it a shot anyway...the only thing you have to lose is that application fee. Good luck!
