you guys are my inside sources... cool.gif . So which resident hall and which plaza is the social area more so than the others (generally speaking)? Just want to both suggestions in case I dont get into one of them. (I'm submitting my Change of Housing request form)

I don't think it matters which resident hall you go to..... I had friends that lived in different resident hall than I did and they had just as much fun as I did with my resident hall. As someone had already mentioned before, it really depends on the ppl who lives on the floor and most important you... i lucked out since my first year, i lived on a floor where practically everyone was a first year, which was nice since everyone was in the same situation as i was. haha.. i lived in rieber hall both first and second year.. I like it but hated the stairs.. ugh... especially after walking back from class on the hills... you had those 100 steps ( i think...)

a little bit out of topic, but what do you recommend I must do in order to get admitted to UCLA?

Freshman and Sophomore year (2.7 GPA) I really sucked, but I pulled up my GPA to more than a 3.9 in my Junior year.
What I did in Junior year:
President of a club
Belonged to 4 other clubs
Community service hours- more than 50
Sports- 1st year swimming
AP US History and passed the AP test
Honors English
SAT- 2000
extra activities- guitar
languages- Tagalog and English (Conversation level French)

I got lower grades my freshman and esp my sophomore year too (but still around 3. something) and improved to straight As in my Junior and Senior year with all AP classes, except a random art class..lol. There were 7 people accepted to UCLA from my school of about 50 that applied. The ones who got in are all in the top 10 of my graduating class, except me. I was ranked 45 or something. Trust me, they LOVE improvement.

Write a great essay about something that inspires you to succeed (I hope you have one) and your passions. It helps that you have lots of community work and are athletic. I logged in over 200 hours by the beginning of senior year. =x

Of all the people that applied at my school (don't know the number) I know two friends (one valedictorian and the other just lazy smart asian) got into UCLA but going to UCB and Caltech. I am the other person that got into UCLA and I'm not smart like at all and I'm planning on going to UCLA. I barely pay attention in class, I didn't take eng. honors and calculus my senior year, my SAT was 1600 lol out of 2400. I'm just happy to get in after I got the supplemental survey thingy.

You can do anything you want if you can:

1. Pay for the amount of classes doubling up requires.
2. Do the actual work and pull the GPA.
3. Don't mind graduating later if it takes longer.
4. Get into the classes you're required to take because they're not always available.

=) Register EARLY!!

I don't take summer session smile.gif.

Of course you pay for the extra classes in summer session, but I didn't have to take summer school so extra classes (as a result of minors or majors) were not a $ issue.

Right. That's why I was talking to Erika.March1993 which this would be a valid issue for and my post was addressed to.

Will we have time to walk around during orientation? Like, before we start registering for classes? I wanted to see how long it'd take to walk from one building to another so I could plan my schedule. haha xD

you have plenty of time to wander the campus, plus the counselors also give you a tour of the campus as well

well if you want a little more detail, this is what happened during my orientation:

-get split up into groups with your counselor
-counselors help discuss the school's requirements and help you sign up for your classes
-counselors will give you a tour of the campus (usually in a fun way)
-counselors will perform some sort of entertainment for you guys
-begin brainwashing new bruins into hating USC
-scavenger hunt (I didn't go, it wasn't mandatory)
-bbq? I think this is where a whole bunch of campus groups come by to recruit new members

there's some downtime in between events, and if you check in early you've got a full night to explore the town. I don't remember much else of what I did during orientation, but it was fun

for those of us who weren't able to sign up for earlier orientation days (ie. mine is session 108 from august 12-14), will we be at a major disadvantage for picking better classes/professors?

EPIK LOL. XD My teacher, who's a USC alumnae, was all rubbing it in my face with the hostility, ahahah.

I'm looking forward to Orientation even though all of my friends signed up for a later session (they signed up too late!). Who's going to the second session (102) from July 13-15? :3

i got a triple in hedrick hall haha. it'll be funnn :]

how is hedrick hall?? i heard its facilities are better than dykstra's, but how much better is it??

and should i have gotten an email or any sort of notification telling me to submit verification forms for financial aid?? cuz i haven't gotten anything yet, and i'm getting worried...

I also got put into Hedrick. : )

My friend had the same worry, so she called FinAid a couple days ago. They told her that they won't be mailing things for stuff like that until mid-July...around July 15th? is what I think she told me.
