i've downloaded itunes in the hope of making a playlist then burning a cd with my favorite songs. i'm trying to put Kiss's song 'becuz i'm a girl' onto itunes by moving it from windows media player. i saved it from a xanga site: www.xanga.com/korean_mujik. BUT i can't move it! on itunes i'd click "add file to library" then pick out the song then press ok but nooooooo it doesn't work! i tried everything and it's so frustrating. i don't think it allows files ending with .asf!! but then what can i do? i really want that song on the playlist... oh, and to burn a cd you don't need to buy a program or anything do you? my friends say you don't but i'm not completely sure...someone PLEASE HELP ME!!! TT_TT if you can't help me with this technological stuff maybe you know a sight i can get files in .wmv instead. that works on itunes..

You don't necessary need to use iTunes to create a playlist (there are plenty of other great players like foobar2000). You have the file you want already on your HD right? It should be as simple as dragging it from where it is into iTunes to get it working but you said it wouldn't so perhaps ASF isn't supported. It might in the library and not visible in the current playlist...

As for the CD burning, all you need is a CD burner and Windows XP (if you have it) will burn without 3rd party software. Though I would recommend you use something like Nero or use the audio player itself to burn (most players support that option).

WMV = video so do you have a audio file or a video file because ASF can also be video or audio. If it is video, iTunes should only the audio part...

iTunes should be able to convert other formats into mp3. But isn't .asf a video file?

To burn a CD you can just use Windows Media Player. That's what I use

Have you tried the mp3 encoder option on iTunes? Go to your preferences through the edit menu and then choose importing. On the dropdown menu choose mp3 encoder and see if that won't convert the file to mp3. I dunno, I've converted asf files to mp3 through iTunes... try that and see if that doesn't help.
