Since I couldn't find a thread about this game, I just wanted to ask if anyone ever played this game. I know it's an old one. The first one came out in 1999 and the second one in 2001. It wasnt that successful so I'd be surprised if anyone did play it.

For those of you who havent played it yet, the basic storyline is Ryo Hazuki's father, Iwao, was killed by a man named Lan Di. Lan Di accused him of killing another person and then he takes this dragon mirror that Iwao had. Ryo goes on his adventure to avenge his father, kill Lan Di, and find out the story behind why his father was killed as well as the mirrors, which he holds the second, the Phoenix mirror.

I'm one of those gamers waiting patiently for Sega to announce this series has officially died, or awaiting for the third and possibly last installment of this game.

Apparently Yu Suzuki has been working on something called Shenmue Online for a while now, but I think thats only going to be released around Asia. Instead of doing that, they should just go and make a true Shenmue sequel.

Anyways I know about Shenmue online but I'd prefer the next game to be Shenmue 3. I haven't heard much about it lately so I dont know if online is gonna come out or not. If Shenmue 3 comes out when I'm 70 or 80, I'm buying whatever system it comes out on. Ha.

I played the first one
which was kinda dissapointing because when I finished it, it felt like there wasn't much I did with that game except getting lost going home for more then half the time =T
The concept was pretty good though

I loved the game.....I really want to know the whole story. If there is a Shenmue 3 or a book about it, I'll definitely pay a hefty price for it :S

aw man i love that game. i remember i had it on the dreamcast. sittin there driving some random vehicle(the utility pickup ons) at the pier. memories...

Shenmue Online was scrapped and Yu Suzuki's position and future projects are all in question.
I used to be a moderator at ShenmueDojo, quite a memorable community and it's a disappointment that there are sequels to third rate titles and Shenmue III gets put on the shelf.

That really blows about Shenmue. It was such an underrated series and it deserved so much more. If they're not going to make Shenmue games anymore, they could at least release some sort manga or script to give us Shenmue fans some closure.
