Does anyone know the best and fastest way to get rid of textbooks and actually getting the most out of them? I know there isn't any sure-fire way, but I'm curious to as what you all think or have done in the past. I need money and need to get rid of all this excess weight from these books.

Oh and btw, anyone need used biology, chemistry, medical terminology, or psychology books? wink.gif
if you do, email me: angel2anjel@mail.utexas.edu

just go to your bookstore when they have buyback. It's the quickest way and you get the most money if you go on the first day. I just got $120 for 2 of my books from last semester.

that's an UT email, so no, the Coop gives you crap for books. Try selling to some friends, you could try eBay or Amazon. You should list which books they are btw, if anyone looking at this threat interested, but I'll assume they're the intro courses.

Books really are a money hog, you should hunt for the cheapest ones online or don't buy any like me... (I've purchased 2 books over the last two semester, one of which was only $20).

I agree with akira53. First day for school buybacks is mostly worth it, since you can get the most money for it too...but it depends on the books.

o_o; If anyone has a cheap anatomy & phy. book 8th edition by seeley, LMK! muahaha o_o;

I know some sites that you can sell back to... sometimes they give you more $$ back than at school... and it's quick + they pay for shipping...well it's not quick in getting money, but it's a great alternative since they buy back all year long

here they are:

**Cash4books.net
collegetextbookbuyers.com
bookbyte.com
textbookwheel.com <-- need a code for free shipping (just pm me)
barnesandnoble.com/frames/selltextbooks/index.asp?z=y
**bluerectangel.com
textbooksnow.com

the ones with ** i use often... but i try the others too to see who will buy back with more $$

if you bought a textbook from an upperclassman, could you still sell it back to the college bookstore? if so, how do they know what price to buy it back for?

^ if the college bookstore still wants/sells that copy of the book you can. they usually have a list of what they will take and what they won't. just bring it in... usually you don't get much back though. like 30%-50% of original price?

The Coop is more like 20% back, it's pretty bad, you're better off using the alternatives.

I feel like usually selling the book back to the bookstore is a total ripoff. You only get a lot of money back if the book is demand, and sometimes they won't take your book because they have too many of them already. I usually sell it to my friends, friends of friends. Facebook marketplace is awesome. I also sell on Half.com and I usually get a good amount of money for my books, more so than the bookstore.

The Cash 4 Books thing usually has a truck near our campus at the end of semesters where you can sell them back ANY book. But you won't necessarily get a good price for everything. I remember one time I sold a book back and it was only worth $1.
