However... Please watch this.

Look at the nutrition label for the beverage to see how much sugar there is in a serving.
Use your measuring cup and pour one serving into a glass.
Now, let's say there are 40 grams of sugar in a serving.
Measure out 10 teaspoons of sugar and put it in your bowl or on your sheet of paper.
Now look at the amount of sugar that you have measured out. Can you believe it? Would you ever eat this much sugar? No, of course not. It is a ton of sugar and it would be gross to eat that much. But because you dissolve it in water and drink it, it somehow seems "OK." In reality it is not OK. This much sugar is not good for your body.
DRINK WATER!!!
However...
Almost all of the US has clean safe water from the tap. But we drink 8.5 gallons of bottled water yearly (and it is increasing!)
Bottled water production is also damaging our environment!! You need massive amounts of oil to make plastic bottles, AND transport it!
Recycle ALL of your bottles. You can recycle by refilling them with tap or throwing them away in the plastic recycle bin.
Or best of all, buy your own reusable sports water bottle. ding ding ding!!
Water doesn't really seem to tickle the mouth or refresh. But I LOVE putting my bottle in the freezer overnight, and during the day, it'll melt! Yum!
AND
Water is a beauty professionals number one beauty secret. Drinking plenty of water gives soft skin, lips, strong nails, shiny hair, etc.
The massive amount of sugar in the soda will only give breakouts, dull skin hair and lips.

what about gatorade? is it safe IN you?
read this
The University of Iowa researchers covered extracted teeth with nail polish. They left bare two patches on each tooth, one on the enamel and one on the root. Then they dunked the teeth in test tubes filled with regular Coke, Diet Coke, Gatorade, Red Bull, or 100% apple juice.
Every five hours, the researchers refreshed the beverages. After 25 hours, they examined the teeth with a microscope. All of the beverages eroded the bare spots on the teeth. But different beverages had significantly different effects.
On the enamel, Gatorade was significantly more corrosive than Red Bull and Coke. Red Bull and Coke, in turn, were significantly more corrosive than Diet Coke and apple juice.
Research Courtesy of Web MD-
On the roots of the teeth, Gatorade was more corrosive than Red Bull. Coke, apple juice, and Diet Coke followed in that order.
The difference in the effect isn’t simply due to their sugar content. Gatorade is 6% carbohydrates, mostly sugars. Coke is about 10% sugar. Both are acidic beverages.
University of Michigan pediatric dental researcher Michael Ignelzi, DDS, PhD, has recently reviewed new research on the effects of beverages on children’s teeth. But he says there’s no evidence showing that sports drinks are any worse than other soft drinks.
