reusing this thread.

Earlier today i went to Best Buy with my dad and went directly to the camera section, course i was gawking over the cameras.

i manage to ask my dad to get me a canon or nikon DSLR for my HS graduation (c/o 09`!) & he says lol jut hold on girl, u didn't grad yet. so yay i hope he gets me one. but anywho, back to digi cams.

i saw 2 point&shoots that i like, a nikon coolpix and an olympus. the nikon coolpix is out of the question(not too fond of the design) and so i was just definitely eyeing the olympus.

^^ olympus

but my dad kept going to the sony cybershot
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1176507039777

which would u guys pick ? any of u guys got either ? how is it? i reall adore the olympus, its something i would buy. & my dad is just googles over the sony. my biggest bet is that if my parents decided to go and get me a camera as a present, no doubt my dad would get me the sony but maybe if i persuaded him enough i would get the olympus because damn i was gawking it.

i admit the sony is nice! its just i'm just stuck on that olympus.. when i was taking pics with the olympus, i found the pic to be rather dark o_o;; maybe its the setting that was on it or somethign ? don't know, didnt get into depth with that.

It's 4x optical zoom and 10 mp but mp should not be the main factor of your decision making. Anyway never mind, just get the panasonic because $178 for a digital camera with a Leica lens is a steal I think.

i think the lumix series is overall very decent. i think this model is average at best, but you're buying really cheap. i'd suggest you just go out to a store and ask if you can try it out first. if your budget is limited, i'd go for an older model of the canon A series.

I have this exact camera. smile.gif It's not super bulky...instead of buying a case for the camera, i use the ipod case thing that came with my ipod to protect it. it's pretty simple & user-friendly to use (which is good for me since I don't like going through the manual to figure out all the fancy options) lol. There's a lot of different modes for picture-taking that you can play with so you can take lots of different types of shots. Night shots are decent, but you can't really see anything in the preview screen while you're taking the picture. But I haven't finished playing with all the modes yet (& i got this camera 2 months ago!) so don't take my words as fact ~

If you were quoting me saying "It's super bulky though +_+" I was talking about my camera not this one >_<

I'm a Canon guy myself (I'm on my 4th since I bought the 1.3mp one YEARS ago) but I've heard good things about Panasonic cameras. I read on PC Magazine and they gave very good reviews on a similar model.

If you really need a new cell phone, get that. If you don't, buy a nice camera and have fun with it. smile.gif

sony does have good quality images...so if that's a huge factor, I would recommend the Sony.

But if price is a factor, go for the Olympus. I would def. recommend Canon or Nikon. They are the best brands.
