A have a question regarding unbranding. I got my w580 from Rogers and they totally crippled the phone. All the good stuff like mp3 ringtones and flash themes are disable!
Should I unbrand it myself by downloading the firmware from an online store like wotan? I have no idea what I'm doing and I pretty much suck at computers but I think doing it myself would be more cost effective. My friend recommended taking my phone to a cellphone store like Cellular Baby and let them do all the work for me. Should I do that instead? And how much would it cost?

Wotan is very easy to use. They have instructions debranding your phone. I recommend wotan!

I'd rather not use any internet-based service since I have a failure rate when it comes to these days. When I tried to install Vista by myself, everything crashed. How much do you think it will cost to do it in a reputable cellphone store?

I went on the site and read thru some of the stuff. What I don't get is the credit thing. How much do you get out of just buying 1 credit? Does it disable the shutter sound, give you more languages or does it just provide one option and the more credits you buy the more options in the debranding?

I don't know about that since I never used it or needed it. All I can say is go ask the people in the SE forum at howardforums, since from what I read, a lot of people there have done it through wotanserver.

if you live in vancouver, there are a ton of places that can do it for a cheaper price than cellular baby(i find that store is a rip off), if you live in other part of canada, check out howard forums

Do you have any places you'd recommend? I tried asking on Howardforum but they wouldn't allow it since the forum is partly sponsored by Wotanserver.
