The school provides bed, desk, closet/dresser, mini-fridge, microwave, and a desk chair.
Everything I've bought so far condenses down into basically a few big groups:
Clothes
Bathroom stuff
School Supplies
What did you guys find really necessary/helpful to have in your dorm room?
What else should I bring?

You don't want to buy too much, because there is such thing as bringing too much. You'll inevitably realize that you wish you brought something, but in that case, you just go out and buy it. My suggestion is to keep a list of things you need, and then in one weekend, just grab everything you need.

Yeaaa. flip flops for the shower. If the chairs are uncomfortable, you could get a chair pillow thing and sit on that. Desk lamps? I found clip lamps were really great, saves space on your desk and you can just clip it to the edge of a bookshelf or something. Trash can. One of those water boiling pots (plastic, costs like $10 at like Bed Bath & Beyond). Good for late nights when you're lazy and you can just make ramen. Also, don't know if you got one already, but the school mattresses are probably damn uncomfortable. You should get a foam mattress pad, it'll make it much better.

Water bottles
calendar
desk lamp
White boards can be fun
Towel rack (I know this goes in shower supplies, but make sure you have one)
Laundry hamper
Bring things you find comfort in from home, because a lot of students have trouble adjusting the first week. It even helps if you're not using entirely new blankets/mattress covers etc... just something familiar, so the change isn't too jarring.

- Clothes hangers (some drawers are not that big)
- Ethernet Cord (some areas might not have wireless)
- Outlet Surge Protector (Dorm rooms don't have many outlets)
- Shower Tote ( Easier to carry your shower supplies than in your hands)
Hmm...I would suggest not buying to many things. One being that you might not end up using it all. If anything, you could always go out and buy stuff when you need it. Hope that helps =]

I actually thought of bringing a rice cooker
unfortunately.. those are banned from our dorms
apparently they're fire hazards or something like that
who knew?

It's the same in my dorms with rice cookers too, it sucks but i've learned to manage with the kitchen on my floor on cooking rice on the stove. I'd recommend bringing or buying your own bedding with you.
