could ne one give me more info on finance??? i've looked online for a lot of info but i want to hear a person's personal view on the major
do u guys consider it to be more easier and more math than accounting and i was wondering if it is a stable job with good pay?

b/c i've been having doubts about accounting especially with my school's 150 credit program just to take the CPA, its gonna be my third year and im already behind which gonna take me at least 3 more years
plus the topic about suicidal rates of accounting in the 20 and up section giving me more doubts, i've been really stressed about it and now my school is asking me to take another English class after the basic 2, seriously the university is taking up my time and money

im trying to figure to take a Financial Management course or a Intermediate Accounting
i really just want to stay in a business major even tho im horrible at math, i just want a good job and a good future for myself but im just really confused
i'd really like to see some posts, cuz i need help!!!! ASAP
how many times must I fall over and over again? and when will i finally succeed at a such a vital point in my life while my time is dwindling away???

Damn Steve no replies.

Well I will give you my input.
I would look through the course catalog and sit down with your adviser. Personally I would find a way to combine the two, see which two classes overlap, and try to double major. Then you will have the option of either going down the path to becoming an accountant, or going more into banking.

Either one you can't go wrong. In the business world, every piece of knowledge and experience helps.

Hey man,

I don't know much about finance... I'm double-degreeing accounting and philosophy. Please bear in mind that I'm also in Canada so I don't know what the situation is down in the states. Anyway, I'll throw in my $0.02.

Articling to complete a CA designation (or any designation requiring it) is tough work! Low pay, long hours and lots of learning to be had. Upon successful completion of the designation, salaries increase steadily and more opportunities open up -- many companies here require CA, CFA, CGA, or CPA. This would probably be one of the more stressful times for accountants. With regards to math... I found that the math itself wasn't all that difficult. Determining which numbers to use and where was the tricky part.

I wouldn't let the suicide rate statistics scare you away from accounting, though. Professional occupations incur stress -- especially when dealing with tight deadlines! According to my Finance friends, I. Banking is even more stressful!

Anyway, I agree with the above poster. Sit down with an academic advisor and sort things out that way.

Provided you try hard and do well, either degrees will earn you a good future. Money and money management occupations will always be in demand.

Better yet, if you're in it for the money, why not do your LLB/JD and go into Tax Accounting Law =D.

University is an investment of both time AND money but provided effort is put forth, it usually pays off in the end.

Good luck!
