Summary for August week 3 chart:

No. 1 song: The top 2 songs are playing musical chairs. F.T Island's "사랑앓이" (Painful Love) is reclaiming the top spot from Fly To The Sky's "My Angel" this week. Overall it is the song's 3rd week as No. 1. However, this song has dropped off the latest M!Countdown ranking which will take into effect next week, so it should be this song's last week on top. Don't be surprised if Fly To The Sky reclaims the top spot next week.

Biggest Mover of the week: The upward movement is very slow this week. The honor surprisingly goes to LPG's remake of Park Myung Soo's "바다의공주" (The Princess of Sea). This song only moved up 7 spots and is already our biggest mover. But it is nice to see these girls getting another chance at pop songs. In my opinion, their image is much better suited to pop than trot.

Hot shot debut: Son Ho Young's "하늘에 내 마음이" (My Heart at the Sky) is our highest debut at No. 16 this week. This song is from his latest single album "Sweet Love" which has already topped the sales chart. We can expect this song to be in the top 10 very soon. The music video of the song, starring Son Ho Young himself and Jung See Ya, is about the pain of a man who loses his lover in a car accident.

5. See Ya - 결혼할까요 (Shall We Marry) - See Ya scored another top 5 hit, seems like every song they have released is going to be in the top 5, once again proving that they are the most popular girl group in Korea now. Despite not performing as much as their previous album, it doesn't affect See Ya's popularity. This song is climbing to No. 2 in M!Countdown this week, meaning that it will move up even higher on this chart next week as well.

19. Bada - Queen - Our 2nd highest debut this week. Like Son Ho Young, Bada's recent release is also a single album. Queen is an up-tempo song, also known as V.I.P. Part II. It is also written by Han Sang Won, who wrote V.I.P. Even though the sales numbers are not as good as Son Ho Young's single, Bada is appearing more on gayo shows to make up the different. Another song that is going to make the top 10 soon.

32. Lee Sun Gyun - 바다여행 (Ocean Trip) - Actor Lee Sun Gyun's 1st ever hit song is from the popular MBC drama "Coffee Prince No. 1 Shop" which starred himself, Gong Yoo, Yoon Eun Hye, and Chae Jung Ahn. Surprisingly, this mid-tempo song is not the title song from the drama OST, but has been well received by fans and media. Another version of this song by Tearliner can also be found on the OST.

34. As One + 2NB - Holiday - A collaboration between 2 female R&B duos. We would expect a ballad but this digital single is a mid-tempo song that showcased the vocals of both of these underrated groups.

44. Lyn - ...사랑했잖아... Part 2 (We used to love part 2) - Part 1 of this song, recorded in Lyn's 2nd album, was her breakthrough hit. In my opinion, this song is even better than its part 1, and I was surprised it was not chosen as the first single. Now it finally enters our chart after a few months of her 4th album release.

47. Kara - Secret World - Kara is changing hits fast, this is already the 3rd single from their debut album "Blooming". Unlike other girl groups, Kara is coming on more slowly, but they are starting to get more and more recognized these days.

BIOGRAPHY:

Our featured artiste this week is the fast rising new boy band F.T Island. F.T. Island, short for “Five Treasure Island,” is a new group made up of 5 young, fresh-faced teenage members. Although the group debuted less than two months ago, they have already gained fans at home and abroad. “Cheerful Sensibility,” their first album released on June 8, is a collection of rock ballads and pop-rock tracks. The first single "Painful Love", written by Vibe's Ryu Jae Hyun, took fans by storm, spending 3 weeks on top of the music chart. Their album is doing equally well on the sales chart, having spent many weeks in the top 5.

Before their album release, F.T Island's first public appearance was back in March 2007 on a reality TV program on M.Net. The theme of the show was "Wanna be your boyfriend" by Internet voting. Within 10 minutes, more than 100 girls posted their pictures on the designated website because they all want to be F.T Island's girlfriends. That show created a lot of buzz for this new group. That's one of the reasons why they have become so popular upon their debut.

They are one of the most successful debuting acts in recent memory. Unlike many other boy bands, F.T Island actually play their own instruments so they are really a band. Perhaps that is one reason many people like them. They are unique and it is very hard to compare them to any previously successful boy bands. With their well rounded talents, F.T Island can potentially become one of the best boy bands that Korea ever has.

Movie stars Bae Du Na and Kim Seung Woo pair up on the small screen for the 2007 SBS drama 'How to Meet a Perfect Neighbor'.
