Mandy Moore Gets Under Rihanna's 'Umbrella'

Mandy Moore -- just like the rest of us -- can't get enough of this summer's biggest single, which is why she chose to cover Rihanna's 'Umbrella' as part of a recent Pepsi Smash promotion. The pop star's slowed and stripped down version is is just one of several covers by some of today's most popular artists.

In addition to Moore's cover contribution, Daughtry does a rendition of U2's 'Sunday Bloody Sunday,' Rihanna offers up her take on Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song,' and Bowling for Soup takes on Fergie's 'London Bridge.' So far, Moore's 'Umbrella' is the Internet favorite.

Bowling For Soup - London Bridge

When a band we adore plays an unexpected cover live we all love it. The contrast! The novelty! The revelation that what we thought of as a piece of dross is actually a good song after all!

But what happens when a band whose whole act is essentially about novelty mis-matches does an unexpected cover? In the case of Bowling For Soup, the fans apparently slurp it up.

So now the husky Texan funsters are releasing their version of the recent Fergie 'hit' London Bridge as a download only single. The result? Just like all the other Bowling For Soup singles but without a catchy chorus. I suppose we're supposed to go "ha ha, how funny, they're big fat blokes, not a sexy woman." In other words, pointless.

I love Mandy's cover of Umbrella. Sounds very soothing and sincere. I love it. I think it's much better than the original.
Daughtry's was okay. I've never heard the song before and it's not really my music so I can't really say anything...
I like Rihanna's Redemption Song, although, when she sings, I can't really understand some of the words.
LMAO. I love Bowling for Soup. It's hilarious. I like it way better than Fergie version. xD

I absolutely LOVE Bowling For Soup and love them even more after hearing this rendition of "London Bridge"! They are sooooooo adorable and the song actually sounded like a really great rock song, forreal! When Jaret was singing "London, London, London~", it reminded me of Limp Bizkit's "Rollin'" song, does anyone remember that? I absolutely loved Chris's "Oh snap!" though! That was freakin' awesome <3
