readers sound off about proposed quick and tasty resaurant:
fast food and cancer?
when are americans going to wake up to the dangers of restaurants like QUICK AND TASTY?
the food they serve contains many chemicals known to cause cancer. it is no coincidence that as more people eat at these restaurants, more cases of cancer are being reported. americans need to leard that organic foods are better than processed foods.

healthy diet? it's up to you!
i for one will wecome QUICK AND TASTY to our neightborhood. their food tastes great, is reasonably priced. and is good for you. people who say otherwise just eat too much or pick the wrong items. their salads are jsut as good as those served at fancy restaurants but are much pess expensive. i regularly eat at the QUICK AND TASTY near my business, and i'm in great shape.

weight a minute!
QUICK AND TASTY is the last thing our community needs. the nation is in the midst of an epidemic ob ovesity, and fast-food restaurants are the biggest reason why. the food they serve has too many calories, and their portions are way to large. societies must be protected from companies like QUICK AND TASTY. they are more interested in making money than in the health of their customers.

QUESTION AND INVESTIGATION FORM
name: ____ date: ____
select one of the letter from above. DEVELOP two scientific questions related to the letter. then describe an investigation and the evidence you could gather to answere each question.
letter you chose:
question 1:
investigation:
question 2
investigation
OK! so i already did all this but it seems that my questions stink. O_O
the letter i chose was weight a minute and my question was: WHY IS THE NATION IN THE MIDST OF AN EPIDEMIC OF OBESITY?
and my investigation statement was: YOU COULD FIND OUT WHAT CHEMICALS AND INGREDIENTS ARE IN THE MAJORITY OF THE NATION'S FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS. THEN, YOU COULD SEPARATE THE INGREDIENTS IN TWO, FAT OR PROTEIN. THEN YOU COULD DETERMINE WHAT INGREDIENTS AND CHEMICALS ARE CAUSING THE NATION'S OBESITY.
OBVIOUSLY, i even my self think my answer does not make sense.
well duh, while i was writing it i had ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE of what im doing.
so yeah..anyone want to help?
or atleast give me examples?
thanx,
hyesil

Since you chose that letter maybe some questions could be:
- why are consumers (americans) so attracted to fast food when media portrays people to be overly skinny? why is there such a disparity in values of nutrition and health (between what is available and what is perceived)
- why are consumers not moving towards a more healthy image? (more of a balanced meal)
- what does it take to convince consumers to move towards this healthier image?
- what can be done to induce changes in the corporations (companies) themselves to be more responsible for the health epidemic?
and more scientific would be:
- what are the increases in calaries and portions sizes from now and before?
- what added ingredients in fast-food restaurants makes the food so unhealthy?
- How does these food affect the human body? why is it harmful?
hope that helps! I'm not a science major so i could only come up with so many "scientific" question
but hopefully my questions have inspired you to come up with more
I think the important thing is to "think deep"... don't just look at the surface, but look at the underlying issues and the current topics you're studying in school right now because it will give you a hint to what the the markers are looking for. if you don't mind me asking, what grade level is this assignment for? it seems really interesting!
