I haven't hit the 1 yr mark with my bf yet, but my friend has. Her boyfriend is a pretty hard gamer, and she was wondering if she should get her bf a play station 3. I told her that there aren't too many games out for that system yet, but her bf has two games only designed for ps3 that he really wants to play. He also said he was thinking of buying one but is still waiting due to money issue as well as seeing if it's worth it or not. As for the money issue, she said it'll be okay since she's only spending half of what she's earned for her summer job.

Worth it????

I would just give him a gift card so that when he does come up with the money, he can use the gift card + his money, that way your friend wont have to spend half her hard earned money.

If she is prepared to be replaced by it... then go ahead. I mean, he's a hard gamer.

Save her money. I wouldn't spend even 1/3 of my monthly salary on anyone unless it's life or death. When the PS2 came out, I stood 13 hours in line to purchase one for my then bf. Good thing it was with his money.

to be truth, i think that's a little beyond o.o
i'm not trying to say anything bad or something..but just in case "that" day comes...whenever he looks at his ps3 he'll think, "oh..she gave that to me"
then memories will rush right back.

BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
if i were the guy and you did give me that as a gift...man would i love you FOREVER! biggrin.gif

if hes an understanding boyfriend..
after he finds out the PS3 his girlfriend just bought him is from hardearned money,
he would return it.

LOL, i was thinking about getting only half of the ps3 for my boyfriend's birthday.
but that's dipping into my savings. plus, i hate it when he plays games so... yeah.
he's love me more but he'd probably love the ps3 more than me sad.gif

Good for him = he now has something to play his games on.

Bad for her = he'll be glued to the PS3 = less time with her...

... unless he has will power to peel himself away.

If he really wants it and she's willing to buy it for him, I don't see why not. For our one year, I bought my boyfriend a PSP because he really wanted one. And hes a "hard gamer" as well. But it doesn't mean he ignores me and plays with it. Honestly, I think I play with it more than he does. laugh.gif

Why feed his gaming habit? I thought games were the mortal enemies of girlfriends. I don't understand why she would spend so much money on something that would result in her boyfriend spending more time in front of a screen seeing as he's a pretty hardcore gamer already.

Makes no sense.

Even the smallest thing like a homemade card would be good, if only I could get something in the first place. *sigh*

Well, I'm not a guy, but I know that my boyfriend would never let me spend that much money on him because he'd feel too guilty about it. I'd go with that gift card idea that someone posted up there. =]

it is a nice thought, but not a wise choice. he will feel in debt to you and the cycle continues with out doing the others gift.

i like the gift card idea too. but at the same time i'm not a fan of gift cards, mainly cuz i find it impersonal.

i get this feeling all the time. when my bf spends a lot on me, i feel like i'm so cheap and need to get him something worth the same... cuz i feel like if i got him something smaller than his gift to me, i feel so cheap :/

it's a nice thought and all. but to be perfectly honest, i think its too much for a one year anniversary. if you believe the relationship is gonna last like a really long time, meaning more annual anniversaries to come.. you may wanna start off with something small, and as each anniversary comes up build up the gift... cuz later on, it gets harder and harder to find a gift cuz you feel like you need to top the gift you gave him the previous years.
