Are there any products that can cure or treat eczema? Things such as lotions or powders...whatnot! Also, I have read the bio-oil thread and many people have commented that it has helped with their eczema? Is this true? Thanks for your input! Also, the person who has it is a 3 year old little boy, not an adult. Don't know if this is important information or not...lol! Thanks laugh.gif

You can't cure eczema i think... it'll always come back... or so I've heard XD i had some on my fingers and my dermatalogist gave me some cream and it's gone now =] I'm pretty sure it was caused by stress, hahaha. So maybe mine won't come back any time soon?

what cream was it?

i don't think bio-oil would do anything for eczema... it's just... oil... no?

i've had eczema on and off for years and years and years... mostly this spot on my neck, but it occasionally hits my elbows too. i had various prescription creams that did the job for awhile, but finally they all stopped working... i'm not kidding... i have no idea how it happened. then my mom got me this ointment from the korean grocery called celestone-G. i told her there was no way in hell some grocery store medicine was going to work when even those prescription creams didn't do anything... but the very first day that i put it on, my eczema went down noticeably. this was a VERY severe case that had been on my neck for about over a half-year, red and flaking and absolutely disgusting and itchy... and it's completely gone now. unlike those prescription medicines, it's cheap, easily available, and it works. but i still try to use it sparingly, because i think it's a corticosteroid (as are a lot of the prescription creams), and you're not supposed to just use those whenever.

my mom's friend's always say they change the diet of their kids foods to much healthier meals and saw a big difference.

Eczema isnt curable, but a lot of people grow out of it as they become older, so hopefully he or she will grow out of it as he/she grows older. The only thing you can do right now is help get the eczema under control.

My advice~ make sure to dress him or her in loose cotton clothing and bath him or her frequently in lukewarm water (often times sweat makes eczema worse). Make sure to moisturize him or her well after bathing- dry skin can also aggrevate the problem. If the itching gets bad, apply some ice to the rash to help calm the skin. I've heard that apple cidar vinegar mixed with water applied to the rash can also help with the itchiness.

If all else fails, you should take him or her to see a doctor. A prescription cream can work wonders...
(elidel, hydrocortisone 0.1% cream, westcort cream... etc.)

I've lived with eczema for 19 years of my life so I understand how hard it can be! Good luck!~*

if you want it to go away, go talk to a doctor smile.gif
they gave me this cream that works wonders (me anyways)! when i peel the skin and i put some cream on, the scab heals! ohmy.gif
so now i've hardly broken up in eczema 'cause i use to have it badddd. like on the pits of my arms and legs. it spread to my neck and shoulder and stuff. it comes and goes, just treat it before it starts.

I have eczema that comes on and off occasionally, it doesn't bother me as much nowadays. My dermatologist told me that it's not curable and it kinda goes away on its own but could always come back. Meh. I'm using some prescription cream that I cannot recall the name of..

If you're talking abt Atopic Eczema . . . . You can continue reading this~

My brother has atopic eczema his whole life.
He's 13.
And my parents have done many things to cure him.
Last two years, a doctor recommended to do this ultra-violet scanning thingie.
But my mum's afraid of him getting side effects ie.: skin cancer, whatever.

The doctor prescribed Dermasone [0.05%].
It's a Betamethasone Valerate cream.
And he uses moisturising cream too.

He's still the same.
Can't be cured.
But, the itch is controlled.

poor little boy...you might want to keep an eye on him and not have him scratch it or anything like that...but don't cover it either because it only gets worst...mine actually came back this year after three years of not having it...for some reason after having it for six years and never had anything that made it go away it just disappeared...but then it came back...i'm not sure why really but yea...i actually got mine infected it wouldn't stop bleeding and always had a yellowish liquid that came out...i got desperate and i just use neosporin...it stings a lot in the beginning and it even gets itchy but it worked after a day or two...and to keep the area from going dry i used cetaphil to moisturize it...don't use water thinking that it'll help...it actually makes it worst once it dries up...after he showers be sure to dry the spot right away and moisturize it with a lotion or cream...

a few things that is believed to bring/cause eczema is that they're allergic to something...or it's their environment (meaning weather or shower water)...or it's simply in their blood and one of the two things (environment and allergens) or both makes it reacts...

with my eczema nothing ever worked...at least no cream really did...it seems like they do a first but after a few days the eczema seems to become to adapt to the medication...weird really...but after a while it will go away...when and how is different for everyone...

best of luck to the little boy...it sucks having eczema...i have scars from it and summers aren't fun either...

eczema is like the most common skin disease among asians lolz...including myself, mine went away, but then recently i started getting it on my neck ==" ...

theres no cure, and all eczema medications require prescription, meaning u need to go see a dermatologist...keep the areas moisturised and dont get too sweaty, thats always a catalyst, o and dust.

I hear aloe vera does wonders.
Try Fruit of the Earth 100% Aloe Vera gel, moisturizes well~

Aloe vera gel did WONDERS for my eczema. I have had eczema since I was born. It catalyzed when I was around 10 years old and realized I was allergic to nickel and I had a bad reaction to my flute. Ever since then, I've battled eczema. I went to a local CVS and bought a big bottle of aloe vera gel (not Frut of the Earth, but just a general CVS brand that was located near the sunblocks and stuff... it had fragrance and everything) for my mom's sunburn. She used it like twice and I still had this HUGE bottle of it... so out of sheer boredom, I started smearing it over the eczema patches I have on my stomach (the rivets in jeans press against my skin and I get hivey) and my forearms (weirdest place ever)... it itched and burned for a bit (tons of open wounds on my forearms) ... and it was still itchy, but I had gotten used to it, and the chilly gel was reassuring to my skin... I did this for about three days... and... eczema gone! And my scars started to fade a bit too! I was really happy and it only came back around last year. this time it came back with even more vicious hives and my doctor said it looked like an allergic reaction more than eczema. Hydrocortizone (available OTC) stopped working, so she prescribed something stronger for me (mometasone furorate)... also a topical steroid, but it worked in clearing up my alelrgic reaction. My little sister also got eczema around the time she was three, my doctor told my parents to put Aquaphor (an OTC product) on her itchy spots... and yep, it cleared up pretty quickly too! You have to remember to NOT scratch though...! Moisturize and not scratch should help clear it up. I still swear by aloe vera gel though... so try that. It's relatively cheap too!

yeah, you cant "cure" eczema, only treat it. my mom has it and she went to the doctor - its just REALLY dry skin so always and constantly moisturize! or go to your doctor and get the super-strong stuff in a tube. a couple of days of application can help treat it.
