I know, my family (mom, grandma, countless relatives) used to try to force me to dance but then they just gave up. I don't like dancing. I'd rather sit and watch.

I don't listen to a lot of contemporary music right now.
A few years ago the rock escene was awesome, now everything is emo kids and the suchness, it really does suck, lol.
but I listen to a lot of rock mainstream and underground (some), mexican groups cos im mexican, tehehe.
Oh yeah Mana and Jaguares don't count. I actually dislike them a LOT. =x
And of course I listen to the classics like La Ley, Fabulosos Cadillacs (Vicentico's solo work is good), Soda Estereo! <333, aterciopelados, ratones paranoicos, and some others.
I
From the pop side/soft music I like Alejandro Sanz and Benny Ibarra. Also Camila is a great group.
I'm a huge fan of latin jazz and Bossanova too.
And the CD in spanish im listening right now is Miguel Bose's 'Papito'. I actually like the remake of Morena Mia with julieta venegas and Si tu no vuelves with Shakira.
Mainstream Pop and Rock is lacking originality and quality (at least from my POV), a few years ago musicians were more worried about bringing some originality in their music unlike new groups that want to be My Chemical Romance or Fall Out Boy, lol.
Hey I feel like a can relate to people in other level thanks to this thread XD,
although it is kind of lonely in here, lol

Oh, god, I HATE Reggaeton! I feel like I'm the only Hispanic in my area who does.
I don't really listen to contemporary either (well, aside from Elvis Crespo and no, not Suavemente). I like to take comfort in greats like The Salsa Queen, Celia Cruz, Wilfrido Vargas, Johnny Ventura, and random merengue, bachata, and salsa groups.
I have been trying to get into the rock scene because I love rock in just about every langauge I listen to (too long to list), so why not listen to it in Spanish. So far, I've run into a lot of politcal rock bands, which is okay. They tend to be ska or punk rock, though. I'd like something harder.

I really don't like reggaeton. I mean it's ok, but after a while I get tired of it.
Some latin ballads are good too, but only the old ones.
Bachatas are good as well.

yay you are not alone xDD
Don't hate on us people who don't like reggaeton ;______;
I guess reggaeton is a movement which hispanics living in the states can relate to, I don't even mind the beat (which isn't that great and pretty much all songs have the same friggin beat) but what i dislike the most are the lyrics, most are really empty and misogynous. I mean I surely beat the crap out of the guy who dares to call me 'gata'.
There is one song I actually enjoy though, 'Oye mi canto' I think its called like that.
One of my favs. Salseros are Tito Puente, Willie Colon (<33!) and Oscar D' Leon.
Random question though, where are you guys from?
ho yeah, Anyone interested in Latin Rock, you guys should try checking out the Brasil Rock Scene, is pretty good I have to say and they have some seriously good bands, I just recently start listening to some because of a friend and I have to admit I got hooked xD

Can you recommend some Brazillian rock bands?
Oh, you've heard of Mariachi.

I thought I was the only one too, when people find out they're like "OMG!!
Some songs are ok or great, but most of it...its ehhhhhh
I'm trying to get back to listening to Latin Music...but I mostly listen to Kinky, Belinda, Belanova, Timbiriche(lol...I even see the show).(I Don't have much music though :/)
I used to listen to Latin Pop a lot but the only Latin Pop radio available changed networks(?) and the new network, I couldn't hear it so after that I was like oh well :/.
I live in an area where is mostly Mexicans so they put a lot of ranchera, corridos, etc.....and I don't like it.
But I do however like bands like Los Tigres del Norte, and Los Tucanes de Tijuana haha...
Its nice to know there is hispanics in this forum
