in the Manga, after the Naruto Sasuke battle.. it goes briefly into Kakashi's youth when the 4th Hokage and his students (which include Kakashi) are doing a mission. Uchiha Obito dies and Kakashi gets his eye. Then it comes back to the modern time, and 3 years later. Naruto is now taller than Sakura, they've been doing their own things between the fight and the reunion. They go off on a mission to Sand where Gaara (now a Kazekage) has been abducted by Akatsuki. combined with Kakashi, and some Sand people.. they try to rescue Gaara. there's 3 battles I last recalled during this arc.. Kakashi and Naruto vs Deidara (an Akatsuki dude .. although I think this one is worse than Haku in gender neutrality). Sakura and Chiyo vs Sasori (an Akatsuki member who created Kankoru's puppets).. and Gai's team vs Gisame.

Right now Naruto's team is: Yamato (an Anbu guy temporarily assigned by the 5th to take over Kakashi's role as leader), Naruto, Sakura, and Sai. Sai looks Sasuke but with much shorter hair, and has that constant eery happy face expression like Ichimaru Gin in Bleach. He's pretty rude so far.. called Sakura a nice ugly, questioned Naruto if he had balls. his skills so far are turning drawings into life.

i think that's the biggest question of all. honestly, i believe that they should have killed him off because he's a traitor, but since he's the most popular character in japan, that won't happen.

originally, i thought he would have killed itachi and then died somehow in the end of the series, but i'm led to believe that he'll eventually go back to the side of naruto/sakura for one reason or another (although i don't know for what reason since both of them weren't able to convince him). it would be somewhat lame if he all of a sudden just came to his senses after 2-3 years or whatever.

As much as I don't want Sasuke to return into Team 7, Sasuke will be come back, and Team 7 will be together again. Kishimoto always stresses teamwork and togetherness. To play with that theme, Team 7 must reunite. That probably means Sasuke is going to do something big to be forgiven... The idea sounds cheesy to me. I rather see Sasuke not return and stay as a missing nin, but not exactly a bad guy or a good guy.

it's highly doubted that the 4th is the leader of the akatsuki. some people just "guessed" that he was.

the 4th most possibly is not the leader of the akatsuki because in the episode where orichimaru fights the 3rd, orichimaru tries to summon the fourth coffin from the dead, but the 3rd stops the jutsu from going all the way. so i think even if the 4th is the leader, it's someone else inhabiting his body. i also don't think the 4th is naruto dad, maybe relative, but not dad bacause then who'd be his mom?

in regards to what might happen to orichi and sasuke, i think tsunade and jiraiya beats orichi at the end and sasuke comes back to konoha after beating itachi. sasuke doesn't seem like he'd thirst for naruto's blood. in the last episode that we see sasuke in, he decides to gain the mangekyou sharingan in a different way than his itachi did.

I don't like the idea of Kishimoto letting Sasuke actually kill his brother. As much as Sasuke hates Itachi, Sasuke unconsciously still love and cherish his older brother... Itachi's motives itself isn't quite clear. He remains an engima. I prefer Itachi dying by other reasons than being killed by his little brother.
